The TV actor will be making his Bollywood debut with a Yashraj film titled Daawat-e-Ishq. Karan was last seen hosting Indian Idol junior, and finally we will get to see him showing off his acting chops after a slew of anchoring assignments.

Since this is a great piece of news, we got in touch with the cute stud and asked him to reveal more details about his dream entry in B-town. Well, there’s not much we could extract out of him but this is what he said, “I can’t talk much about the film ‘coz I just started shooting today. I am really excited as I have been waiting to do something like this for a really long time. I couldn’t have had a better debut. Working with Parineeti Chopra, Aditya Roy Kapur and Anupam Kher is going to be a learning experience.”

On asking if this film is going to help him establish a strong foothold in Bollywood, Wahi said diplomatically, “I hope it works well for me.”

The actor is visibly elated about his first day on the shoot. He also wrote on Twitter, “Keeping the anchor aside and getting back to what I love… ACTING.”

Well, we hope it’s something substantial that Karan is playing in the film and not stepping into the shoes of a hero’s friend or a sidey supporting role. We will have to wait a li’l more to discover that, until then let’s take a look at TV actors who have made their debut on the big screen this year.

Manish Paul: The actor played a naughty hacker in Mickey Virus. The film got mixed reviews from the audience and the critics called it a substandard version of Vicky Donor! So is Paul here to stay? Can’t say yet!

Amit Sadh: This lad has come a long way from struggling on the small screen to doing small budget films. Kai Po Che did him good; he has bagged two films already. One of them is Runningshaadi.com which is a romantic comedy and the other one is a diametrically different genre, a political thriller titled 10 Janpath.
