Finally after a long wait, the promo of the much talked about 2 States is out. Based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel, the film looks quite young and refreshing. And of course Bhatt and Kapoor incorporate their own charm into it. The two protagonists, Ananya and Krish start off with a college affair, but that soon blossoms into a serious relationship. The Punjabi dude Krish falls head over heels in love with South Indian babe Ananya. But very soon the two are trapped in a web of problems. The love birds want to get hitched but their parents seem to be against their kids marrying someone from a different caste and community. That’s one big hurdle the couple has to topple over.

The movie is a funny take on how Punjabi’s have this stereotypical image about South Indians and vice versa. Krish’s mom played by the brilliant Amrita Singh does a cool job of stepping into the shoes of a nagging, loud Punjabi mom who doesn’t leave a single opportunity of mocking her son’s choice. Ronit Roy is Krish’s obstinate dad, who uses this ‘my way or the highway’ approach with his son.

Ananya’s mom is played by famous actor Revathi. Love the way she lends that extra edge to the character by being so uptight and self-righteous. In one of the scenes, she turns up her nose and says, “90% Tamilians are educated.” There’s this air of conceitedness about her, which she portrays fabulously.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, the makers had come up with a creative engagement invitee for releasing the promo. The movie is slated to release on April 18.

There’s also a passionate lip-lock scene between Arjun and Alia in the film. The two are talking about sex and ‘making out’ unabashedly in the film, and that I think is sure to strike a chord with the youth. There was also a rumour that the onscreen couple is a real life item too. Well, I am sure that must have translated brilliantly on the screen then. Anyways, I have not been a very huge fan of the book, but I have a feeling the movie will manage to mesmerize me to a certain extent. What about you people?
