Though, beginning with a small business can be rather demanding. Till you learn the tricks to survive, you might find yourself on coarse roads. All you require for getting started with a small business is the right business idea, endurance and willpower. Once you start with all these values, your business is clear to succeed.

The three crucial moves to begin with a small business are –

What’s the Idea?

To be victorious it is significant to have an idea which captures the market potential. Search on the net for similar business plans. Spot your possible customers and competition you are likely to face. These two things should be researched thoroughly.

Write down the business plan

A business plan is the road map to achievement. It assists you to learn about the starting and running expenses. It also allows you to meet monetary and business objectives.

Discover your funding alternatives

Several programs are available to fund small businesses. Look for each one thoroughly. Pick the one best suitable for your kind of business.

How to begin a small business without spending much?

Can you afford to spend much at the beginning of your business? The answer is a loud no. You require finding means to trim down on spending. Unnecessary spending might result in wastage. Thus, you must be very cautious. The can begin saving right from the location, for instance, if you plan to run the business from your home, you are already a step ahead in the game.

Go slow with advertisements. At the initial stage, the easiest way out for advertising is to give leaflets to possible customers. And once you get more clients, then you can think of going for advertising on a larger scale.

Essential advice to beginners

– Have an online presence as people, including you, usually don’t trust a company, which does not have online presence.

– Create a blog that covers up the details of your business. It puts forward the right signs.

– Send out a newsletter for new and active customers.

– It is vital to advertise in the signature line of your mail. This is an indirect but quite helpful style of marketing

– Advertise on known sites.

No matter what kind of business you begin with, always fix to the fundamental rule that the customer is always right. Your business should be based completely on the customer and his demands and requirements. Respond to phone calls and emails punctually. Admit complaints with honesty and follow it up with fast rectifications. A few content customers is a signal of a great beginning.

She said the government had been dragging its feet in the diplomat matter just because she belongs to a Scheduled Caste.

Speaking inside the Parliament, Mayawati said, “Whatever has happened with a Dalit lady in the US, we cannot ignore it. But it has also unmasked the Centre’s anti-Dalit mentality. Had it been any other woman, the government would have taken some major action by now. But it has been many days since the incident happened and the government is yet to initiate any concrete step. What the government is doing is not clear yet. It seems the Centre is not serious on the issue. This is an important national issue”.

Khobragade, one of India’s senior diplomats in New York, was charged last week with visa fraud and making false statements. She was accused by Manhattan’s Indian American US Attorney Preet Bharara of visa fraud and exploiting her babysitter and housekeeper. She was handcuffed in public by law enforcement authorities in New York while she was dropping her daughter at school.

India has termed the treatment meted out to the envoy as “absolutely unacceptable”. US Ambassador Nancy Powell was summoned to South Block by Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh on Dec 13 and a strong protest was lodged over the treatment.

There was indignation in both houses of the parliament over the matter, and lawmakers cutting across party lines asked for tough disciplinary action on part of the government, and an apology from the US. This is still understandable but what Mayawati has done is beyond everybody’s understanding. She just cannot stop herself from playing her evergreen but boring Dalit card in every situation.

Somebody please tell her this is the worst way of doing vote bank politics. Ill-treatment meted to Devyani is ill-treatment for India and not just Dalits and throwing the Dalit card at such a time is really disgraceful.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, clarified her party’s stand on the Bill, declaring that her party is in support of a strong Lokpal. But taking advantage of the opportunity, she also attacked Congress-led UPA government, saying that there was a race for taking the credit for passage of Lokpal Bill. But the credit goes to none but Anna Hazare and people of this country.

Since, when did BJP started thinking about the people of the country? Oh, just two months back in wake of the 2014 general elections. The Lokayukta post in BJP ruled Gujarat state remained vacant for as much as a decade. Just a week back, Justice (retired) D.P. Buch took oath for the post.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi spoke in favour of Lokpal Bill and said that it is important to pass it with majority and not just this he also requested Speaker Meira Kumar to extend the Winter Session to make sure passage of other imperative bills.

Yes Rahul Baba it was important for ‘Congress’ to get the bill passed with majority, as before 2014 Lok Sabha elections your party needs something to brag about. And you are being given the credit for free, what more do you desire?

Samajwadi Party as usual staged a walked out, as it did in Rajya Sabha yesterday, with party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav voicing against Lokpal Bill and saying that it will create a culture of fear in the country as the bill would give the authority to a simple constable to question the Prime Minister and other leaders, voted by lakhs of people.

So, in short, Mr. Yadav is scared of losing power. Yadav’s stand can be presumed to have originated from corruption cases against him. Yadav and his family members have faced accusations of disproportionate assets. He was lately given a clean chit by the Central Bureau of Investigation, which was said to be a barter deal with the Congress.

Even on earlier occasions, Yadav has not been able to give a clear stand on Telangana and food security bill. And not to forget the women reservation bill, in 2010, Yadav had said that if the Women’s Reservation Bill is passed, Parliament will be filled with women who will invite catcalls and whistles. His stand on quota does not give any explanation as his own daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav, is an MP from Kannauj.

Last but not the least comes the Aam Aadmi Party. AAP leader Prashant Bhushan, while speaking to a television news channel disapproved of the Lokpal Bill, saying that the bill that has been passed will not be able to solve the purpose as it is not strong. According to him, all the political parties were forced to pass a Lokpal Bill in rush due to the rise of the Aam Aadmi Party.

AAP has just one strategy – “Gaali bhi denge and credit bhi lenge”. But it’s high time for Kejriwal to realise that the carpet has been pulled from under his feet.

Gandhi replied to the letter saying that his government is devoted to giving the nation a strong Lokpal Bill. Gandhi also wrote that he is inspired by the Hazare’s efforts to fight corruption and was grateful for his support.

On the other hand, recently when Aam Aadmi Party’s senior leader Gopal Rai visited Ralegan Siddhi to join Anna in his fast for Lokpal Bill, he was asked to leave for disrupting the speech of Anna’s follower, former Army General VK Singh.

In an indirect attack, Singh was hitting out at AAP, calling them “opportunists” who “deserted” Anna after using him and his anti-graft movement as a plank to add political mileage.

Singh said, “When Annaji raised the voice for Jan Lokpal, many people rallied behind him but later left him. Today, they say it is because of them that there is Annaji and not because there is Annaji that they are there. Nobody can undermine something that Annaji has created. Today, if we have to take our nation forward, we need to unite and not float separate groups and separate parties”.

This was followed by a verbal fight with Rai who was sitting among the audience and fasting. Calling Singh an “agent” of Narendra Modi, Rai alleged Singh of misleading Anna and creating a crack between AAP and Anna.

Anna was forced to intervene. He took the mike and started shouting at Rai.

Anti-corruption crusader said, “You were told not to join the fast but you did. Now people are asking you not to interrupt (Gen. Singh’s) speech and you are interrupting. If you have to create a ruckus, you leave the village. Don’t sit here. It is not proper to interrupt people when they are speaking”.

Following which, Rai left the venue after few minutes. This indicates that friends are turning into foes and vice versa.

The debatable Lokpal Bill was passed on Tuesday by Rajya Sabha, with all political parties supporting the bill, except for Samajwadi Party, which staged a walk-out when the bill was tabled in the house.

The bill will be tabled today in Lok Sabha, where it will face the acid test.

Though Anna Hazare has welcomed the step, his former supporter, Arvind Kejriwal is not satisfied with the present version of the bill. AAP leader Kumar Vishwas said it was a bad day for Lokpal and an insult for those who asked for a better Lokpal.

Its party time for Anna Hazare as something is better than nothing, as always and only time will tell, whether it’s a strong legislation or a toothless act.

The bill will be tabled today in Lok Sabha, where it will face the acid test.

A bill to institute an Ombudsman was tabled in Parliament for the first time in 1968.

Reportedly, Arun Jaitley, leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha said, “Passing the Bill is vital to restore the fast-eroding faith of the public in the political class.” And not to forget, BJP requires this faith to be restored in their party in wake of the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

As per media reports, the Trinamool Congress, Janata Dal (United), Bahujan Samaj Party and DMK all extended support. The AIADMK wanted that the prime minister and chief ministers in states be kept out of the purview of the Lokpal.

On Tuesday, the federal government also made public some letters exchanged between Anna Hazare and Rahul Gandhi – in which, Hazare had urged Gandhi to get the bill passed and also thanked him for his support.

Congress, marred with scams and ten years of failed governance, has given the free credit to their ‘to be PM candidate’ Rahul Gandhi.

Even though Anna Hazare has welcomed the step, his former supporter, Arvind Kejriwal, as usual, taking advantage of the opportunity to gain more brownie points has rejected the present version of the bill.

So, is it the rise and outshining performance of Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party, a result of Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement, which pushed the political leaders to join ranks and make sure that the anti-graft law ultimately became a reality?

Well I think yes, as Jaitley used this chance to titter at the Congress for fast-tracking the passing of the bill in the ‘changed political environment’, referring to the hard-hitting defeat of Congress in the recent assembly polls.

The rural development minister, who has a record of making contentious statements, drew this comparison on Monday when he was questioned about Modi ridiculing Rahul Gandhi on the matter of Lokpal Bill at a rally in Uttarakhand on Sunday.

Modi in his speech has stated that why Congress, which is now pushing for the Lokpal Bill, was not putting into practice the Lokayukta Act introduced by the former BJP government in the state.

Ramesh said that Modi, who has not designated a Lokayukta for 10 years in Gujarat, has not right to talk about anti-corruption act.

According to media reports, Ramesh said, “A guy who didn’t appoint a Lokayukta for 10 years is hardly the person to speak about Lokayukta. For 10 years he didn’t appoint a Lokayukta and he is giving ‘updesh’ on Lokayukta. This is like Asaram talking about virginity”.

Self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu, 72, has been accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in his ashram and is in judicial custody in Jodhpur jail since September.

Devised during the time of Anna Hazare’s anti-graft demonstration, Uttarakhand Lokayukta Bill was passed in unison by the state assembly in November 2011 just two months after B. C. Khanduri took charge as the chief minister for the second term in September, 2011.

However, the bill has received presidential ascension in September 2013, after two-years of hanging around. The bill is still to be executed in Uttarakhand as Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has decided to implement it only after some changes.

This act brings under its purview the chief minister, state ministers, legislators and public servants.

Ramesh called this act a ‘joke’ and added that ‘there was some problem’ with the bill. But he did not give the details.

Well I think, Lately Ramesh has been handed over the task of calling Modi by all kinds of names but this analogy was the most horrible ones among all that the minister has said till now. Is it the fear of Modi and his popularity that is making the party and its ministers do all such insane things? Well time will see the finish of the degrading and shameful period of the current government and its ministers.

The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) assures 100 days of employment to every rural family each year.

An amount of Rs. 10,000 would be given for the construction of individual toilets.

Rural development minister Jairam Ramesh announced on Monday that any person who has the MNREGA card and does not have a toilet at home, will be given Rs. 10,000 for constructing a toilet.

Other modifications include construction of structures for women SHG federations as a permitted activity.

The government has also made it compulsory to pay the wages in 15 days and if the officers fail to do so, they will have to pay fines.

It seems the Congress is quite baffled as Lok Sabha elections are approaching and they have nothing to boast about in their 10 years of governance. So, they are digging out old things to gain numbers and the ‘immature’ Rahul Gandhi is trying to save his party’s face on the basis of sacrifices made by his father and grandmother centuries ago.

Dear little Rahul baba, people are interested in what has your government and ministers done in the last years rather than taking history lessons from you.

Reportedly, federal minister Salman Khurshid when asked why Kejriwal is reluctant to from the government even after getting support from Congress. He answered, “Congress has extended unconditional support to AAP as it wants to witness the miraculous experiment of free water and power rate slashed by 30 per cent to Delhiites”.

It was quite shocking that Congress had recently written a letter to Delhi’s lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung offering ‘unconditional support’ of eight legislators to AAP for forming government. Though, immediately after, AAP blamed Congress and BJP for looking forward to its support for forming government.

BJP refused to form government quoting shortage of required numbers, after which Jung invited Kejriwal to talk about the matter, but he also refused to form the government.

Yesterday AAP leader Manish Sisodia said that they will not take a hurried decision and leave the decision on the residents of Delhi to choose who they want to see as their leader.

Kejriwal has made tall promises of free water supply, slashing of electricity bills, constructing new schools and hospital. But how will he fulfil these assurances and where will the resources be arranged for fulfilling all these promises?

President’s rule appears a possibility in Delhi as both BJP and AAP, the major vote gainers in the polls, have declined to form government.

One more thing that appears visible is that maybe Congress and BJP are working hand in glove to destroy AAP before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Well, I’m apologetic to break it to you but your justification is worse than Tusshar Kapoor in any of his movies.

We are an uncaring generation of people with an awful attention span and a burst for public anger. We are also extremely imaginative when it comes to giving justifications for avoiding responsibly. Below are the most in fashion reasons for not casting vote:

1) All the political parties are crooked; I don’t want to add to the dirt

Please adjust the halo that you’ve fabricated in your quite insipid mind and lock it securely as there is also an option of – RIGHT.TO.REJECT. Also, have you heard of proxy voting? Let’s first teach you about the arrangement before you can start to complain about it.

2) The polling booth is very far

You know the roads you’re criticizing about, the potholes, the lack of parking space? You could in fact grumble about it if the person you nominated didn’t meet your needs but because you didn’t cast vote and you don’t have a voted representative, please go sob mutely in some corner.

3) The queue is very long, the people there are strange and it’s too hot

You have no difficulty voting for irrelevant reality show unknowns but the queue is too long when it really matters?

4) If I am a citizen, I must just be able to turn up and vote. I don’t concur with the registration procedure.

We don’t even! Development didn’t concur with you.

5) I am too busy, I have to go to the gym and do *unimportant tasks*

What will you going to do when you can’t pay for the protein shakes your biceps so badly want? So, go and vote.

6) This country is being ruled by the dogs, I just don’t care anymore!

If you’re questioning about who is accountable for the miserable state of affairs, just take a walk to the mirror near you and you will find the answer.

7) I did instead go for a movie in the free time

Well done! You and those political leaders have more in similar. They’d also instead tear you off than work for your advantage. You could have elected someone who would’ve done something but what’s better than a senseless movie!

Well, you’re still residing in a developing nation and if you still choose not to vote, then think of a better idea than democracy.

In 13 months since October 2, 2012, when it was launched, the Aam Aadmi Party has written an amazing political story. AAP may have come second to BJP in Delhi, but it is evidently this election’s champion by gaining 28 seats and earning roughly 30 percent of the popular vote.

In the course, AAP has raised a number of vital questions. Has it established that there’s room in national politics for an outfit that’s outside the political organization and challenges the thought of business-as-usual? Will AAP entities now rise in other cities and states? If so, how will AAP perform nationally?

The movement that led to AAP’s formation began with the campaign for a Jan Lokpal which had Anna Hazare as its face. Its plank was anti-corruption, Kejriwal was its writer, and it was born in a modest four-room apartment in Kaushambi, Ghaziabad, which was the office for Kejriwal’s NGO named ‘Parivartan’.

Ever since then Anna has decided to stay away from the new political outfit, but in doing so has given way to the control of the movement to Kejriwal.

In 2011, a series of scams hit the headlines — CWG, 2G, Adarsh – which gave the required edge to Kejriwal’s crusade. He joined the support of Anna, lawyer Prashant Bhushan, former-Lokayukta Santosh Hegde and former civil servant Kiran Bedi to draft the Jan Lokpal bill.

The group that was identified as ‘Team Anna’ started its first demonstration on April 5, 2011 with Anna on an indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi. The beginning was devoid of much fanfare but by the third day crowds had multiplied as the public attacked the government for paying no heed to an aged self-styled Gandhian who was all set to die for the country.

The government was forced to form a joint committee to draft a Lokpal bill. The bill itself didn’t go too far, but there was no turning back, as Team Anna’s demand of a different, honest politics lit the flame of idealism in the youth – a group that formed the largest portion of AAP volunteers in this election.

The fame of Anna’s fast in August 2011, resulting in a confused government incompetent and bunging Anna in prison, forced the government to not only hold a special Parliament session for passing the Lokpal Bill, but also uncovered how all political parties were hand-in-glove in rejecting the bill.

Simultaneously, it gave birth to an exceptional hopefulness among the supporters of the movement. It produced a momentum that didn’t stop in spite of reports of differences among Team Anna members. In July 2012, after yet another fast, Kejriwal declared that they would fight elections. The Aam Aadmi Party was proclaimed October 2, 2012, after a particularly harmful divide with Anna who in public reprimanded the group.

Faced with two deeply well-established players in Delhi, AAP climbed a stunning campaign. It used a argumentative plan (auto-rickshaw slogans stated Kejriwal as ‘imandaar’, Sheila Dikshit as ‘beimaan’), carried out rigorous door-to door campaigning, listed major issues in all 70 seats, and used the social media to design the campaign.

AAP pledged to cut power and water rates. BJP was forced to chase their lead and make similar promises. It promised to present an honest government. BJP was forced to throw away Vijay Goel because of his problematic repute.

All this may have pulled the youth and parts of the middle class. But AAP’s huge victory rest in that it was able to reach out to the city’s disadvantaged, those in shanties, struggling hard to earning a living. Record high inflation probably helped AAP to bond with this section by appearing to listen to their problems and giving assurances to address them. And its appeal also received great support of middle and upper middle class Delhi also.

Many stings were carried out against AAP members; it was obvious that it was being taken critically as a rival by the political establishment. And by the time this Sunday was out, Rahul Gandhiand BJP leaders were surrendering that there was much to learn from the AAP performance.

A political beginner, Kejriwal not just overpowered three-term Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit in her own constituency but his party was just short of the BJP score both in terms of the popular vote and seats. He god this achievement in only one year, something that has never been seen in independent India’s history except for in 1983 when the newly formed N T Rama Rao-led Telugu Desam Party crushed Congress in nine months. What is more, Kejriwal did this without the big bucks.

Obviously the AAP vote has cut across castes, classes and communities and its entrants have consistently won from middle class colonies plus from slums. As the AAP is a receiver of the current temper in urban India, its surfacing could mean the beginning of the end of politics based on caste and community lines in the last two decades.

Pessimists might dismiss the AAP’s role outside the capital, although it has by now set up entities in over 300 districts. So as the Congress is down — perhaps even out — as much as 2014 is concerned, the Delhi election can catalyse the creation of a new force countrywide, which may well potentially impede the Modi in its tracks. This could sound like wishful thoughts, but ground level changes are happening in the country, leaded by the youth.

The AAP may perhaps decide to pitch many contenders for the parliamentary elections. It can finish up creating a mood against both the Congress and BJP in many places, in the procedure helping ‘third’ parties or their conglomerates.

Debutant AAP was off to a strong start in Delhi, looking on track to rise as one of the big stories of the state elections.

The AAP has created leads in 28 seats, standing second to BJP, which came first with 32. The incumbent Congress was settled at 8 seats.

Worse is that Arvind Kejriwal’s broom sweeps three time chief minister Sheila Dikshit in the prominent New Delhi constituency, with some 22,000 votes.

Challenging opponents, the Aam Aadmi party made a spectacular political entrance by crashing the Congress and punctured the much-hyped Modi tyre in Delhi.

Simultaneously, Congress has done badly but BJP is not better. Kejriwal gave jitters to BJP in neck to neck fight.

In spite of settling on the highest number of votes, the real loser in Delhi is in fact the BJP, which evidently failed to plug the anti-Congress mood as much as they could have, and Narendra Modi, whose self- declared appeal could not successfully answer the emergence of a newcomer: the Aam Aadmi Party.

The outcome go on to confirm that the BJP is not been seen as a really feasible political choice among the present electorates, and that people are open to discover and support new options if they are reliable, clean and unfailing in their position.

Congress’ defeat in Delhi is more an indication of public irritation against its federal leadership than Sheila Dikshit’s governance.

Amid all the chaos, Harry Potter-like Kejriwal has caught the tell tales of success flying on his AAP broom and confusing both Sheila Dikshit and Harshvardhan!

So, here comes more power to you, Mr Kejriwal for displaying us the strength of an angry activist.

For the BJP, conquest in these four states, which count for 72 of the total 543 Lok Sabha seats, would fortify Modi’s offer to bring the saffron party back to power at the Centre after 10 years.

The Congress, though, is trying to delink Sunday’s election outcome from the general elections next year.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said the party would go into the 2014 general elections with self-confidence ‘irrespective of assembly election results.’ Even Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh said that “these results will have no bearing on 2014 Lok Sabha elections.”

I wonder where is Congress getting so much of confidence from, but I just hope the source of confidence is not Rahul Gandhi, or else in the coming years, Congress will just remain a state of mind, like poverty.

The only sensible statement made was by Sonia Gandhi, who said she was disappointed with the verdict and called for deep introspection.

Replying to query during the Hindustan Time Leadership Summit, Mr. Singh said “As an organised political party we can not underestimate the power of opposition to unsettle the ship of the State. Therefore I am one of those who take very seriously our opposition, there is no room for complacency.”

He said, “The Congress is going into the elections with a spirit of self confidence and that should not be mistaken whatever the may be the outcome of the Assembly elections.”

To another query on the requirement and timing of the Communal Violence Bill, Singh firmly said, “It is not a vote catching gimmick.”

Affirming that it was a Bill “whose time had come”, he noted how in the last five or six years the country has been struggling with the crisis of communal riots in one or the other part. In particular, the Prime Minister referred to the latest riots in Muzaffarnagar and said how it was a reminder that even though as a country we can take pride in our capability to guard all the people of our country, still there are times when that does not happen.

“Our effort has been to create an environment where the officials would have the responsibility to look after the law and order situation as effectively as is humanly possibly. Plus, also if riots cannot be prevented there should be very quick compensation for the victims. So I think these are two basic principles which underline the purpose of the Communal Violence Bill,” he added.

If we rewind the clock by six months, we’d have a large part of this Modi impact gone. Another six months and whatever we have in the name of this Modi wave, or effect, is nothing more than a little commotion in the remains.

What leads this political wave is a long period of pause symbolized disreputably by a weak, rudderless headship, policy paralysis and a flurry of scams upsetting a non-functional government. A study would disclose Modi is everything Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is not. He is vocal, lively and even offensive. And his frequent faltering on facts present a friendly contrast to the empty sophistication of Singh.

For the past decade, we have had a political headship which failed to gain confidence among people. Even as scam after scams kept denting his and his government’s reputation beyond recovery, Singh did not even once adopt an oratory which was appeasing. The end outcome was a accumulation of public anger which was apparent in itself on events such as the Anna Hazare movement of 2011 and the demonstrations following the Delhi gang rape in December 2012. These were the alarms the Congress along with the other political group read well but was unsuccessful in taking advantage of it.

As per a study by the Association for Democratic Reforms, there are just 69 women among the 796 candidates fielded by the major political parties counting the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the first time runners Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

This is a gloomy 9 percent, much less than the 33 percent reservation demanded by the pending women reservation bill that offers that seats be retained for women in state assemblies and parliament.

A woman Chief Minister is heading the Congress government in Delhi from last 15 years, but the party has fielded only six women contenders, which is 8.5 per cent of all candidates.

The BJP has fielded five women candidates, which is 7.5 per cent of its total 66 contestants and has left four seats to its partner Akali Dal (Badal).

Whereas, AAP has also fielded six candidates, equal to Congress.

The number of tickets given to women candidates by the three top running parties is in sharp contrast to population of women voters in Delhi.

According to electoral roll, a total of 1.19 crore people are entitled to vote out of which over 53 lakh are women and 66 lakh are men.

In the 70-member Delhi Assembly, there are currently only three women representatives – Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Kiran Walia and Barkha Singh.

In an informative reality about the troubles women face, at least 13 candidates have stated crimes against women, counting BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Harsh Vardhan who has been booked on a charge related to word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman.

Social activist Ranjana Kumari told IANS, “The political parties want women to vote for them but they will not field women candidates… The only argument that comes from the political parties is that a candidate that can win will be given the ticket and that is how criminals and tainted people become candidates. Those with criminal background can bully or buy the votes and that way half of the population is pushed away from decision making.”

In 2008 elections, total 57 women candidates were in the battle. The parties asserted that fielding less number of women runners was not ‘intentional’ but ‘circumstantial’.

HuffPost World asserted it has collected a list of the 20 richest world leaders presently in power, on the basis of available data. The list comprises a mixture of kings, presidents, sultans and queens. Most are male (as the world’s political leaders tend to be, also).

HuffPost has computed Sonia Gandhi’s wealth at $2 billion, against India’s GDP per capita is USD 1,500, and positioned her at the twelfth position in the list of 20. The list includes kings, presidents, sultans and queens with most rich leaders amongst the top 20 originating from the Middle East region.

Amazingly, Queen of England Elizabeth II grades much lower than Gandhi in the list with riches worth USD 400 million to USD 500 million.

The report puts Russian President Vladimir Putin as on the top of the list with a wealth of USD 40 billion, followed by King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej with riches worth USD 30 billion.

The report does not evidently state how it has concluded the comparisons and financial values of the leaders.

As per the National Election Watch website of the Association for Democratic Rights, Sonia Gandhi has assets worth Rs.1.38 crore. She neither owns a car nor has a house in India. Then where is the whole wealth and what is her source of income? As far as I can image, India is her source of income.

Tehelka was on the way of introducing a new investor in the company when the sexulal assault scandal hit the news headlines and its high-status editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal, a person aware with the progress said.

However, the identity of the new investor and the terms of their investment could not be confirmed by us. This disclosure comes even as the future of the magazine appears dark, with its editor facing a criminal charge, managing editor and key employees resigning, advertisers cautious and the brand destroyed.

Reportedly, Alchemist Group founder and Trinamool Congress MP Kanwar Deep Singh, whose companies are the largest shareholders in Tehelka publisher Anant Media, said the magazine’s future appeared gloomy to him.

On Thursday, the Goa Police advanced a sessions court demanding a non-bailable arrest warrant against Tejpal, refusing his appeal to allow two more days to appear before the agency on charges of sexually assaulting a woman co-worker during an event in Goa.

The magazine’s managing editor Shoma Chaudhury, who found herself to be turning into a punching bag hit by criticism on social media and news channel debates for her manner of dealing with the case, resigned.

As the case moved down into an inclined political fight overflowing into the streets, for the employees, readers, advertisers and other stakeholders in the magazine, one question surfaced – can Tehelka face the fiasco brought upon it by its creator?

The magazine has lost its crucial members, the confidence of the existing employees is hit hard, the image of its sophisticated editor-in-chief lies in rags, and the controversy surrounding its shady funding has emphasized discrepancies in what the magazine claims to be and what it follows.

According to reports, Tehelka’s owner Anant Media has incurred losses for three successive fiscals till 2011-12. For the 2012 fiscal, the most recent period for which financials have been filed, it posted a loss of Rs 10.5 crore, down from Rs 16 crore in the prior fiscal.

The profits from the first Think festival, a glamorous event the company organized in Goa, seem to have facilitates slashing down the losses. In their report associated to the 2012 balance sheet, the directors called the event ‘a mega hit’. The next year, though, the festival was shifted to Thinkworks Pvt Ltd, a company privately owned by Anant Media and shareholders were Tarun Tejpal, his sister Neena Tejpal and Shoma Chaudhury.

The well-networked Tejpal was the pushing hard to get remarkable speakers and getting corporate sponsors to support the festival. Facing criminal charges and a fast-tracked trial in Goa, Tejpal will not be able to handle on the business for a while now.

The magazine’s business part is handled by Tejpal’s sister Neena Tejpal, who will also be busy with the legal matters and damage control necessary to keep the magazine running.

Till now, there has been no statement made by Neena Tejpal. At the same time, Alchemist Group’s Singh said his companies have by now divested part of their stake in the publisher of Tehelka.

In this egg salad recipe which is flat-belly friendly, gets the classic seasonings of dill, celery, and green onion — a little lemon juice adds some surprising tang. Try serving egg salad over a bowl of lettuce greens. This sandwich couples well with fresh berries.

Ingredients

– Six eggs
– 1/3 cup Greek yogurtl
– 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
– Pinch of pepper
– 1/4 cup green onion, thinly sliced
– 1 celery stalk, thinly sliced
– 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
– 8 large lettuce leaves
– 8 slices whole-wheat bread

Boil the water over high heat for five about minutes. Turn off the gas and cover the pot of eggs to rest for 5 minutes. Pour off the water, and cover the eggs with ice for five minutes.
Peel the eggs and place them in a medium size bowl. Break the eggs with a fork and blend in the yogurt until a thick paste forms. Mix in the lemon juice and pepper to taste. Mix in the onion, celery, and dill until integrated. Toast the bread, and serve the egg salad on the 2 slices of bread with 2 leaves of lettuce each.

While answering to Lakhimpur gang rape case and Tarun Tejpal scandal, Agarwal made very insensitive and chauvinist comments.

He said that officers are now ‘scared’ to employ women as their personal assistants after the passage of the bill to prevent sexual harassment of women at workplace. Although desisting from replying on the sexual harassment charges against Tarun Tejpal till the probe is finished, he recollected that when the law in support of women was being brought, he had conveyed concern over it. He said, “Nobody is willing to hire female PAs in the ministry in fear of framed rape charges.”

There is no end to the sexist rant of controversial SP minister. In an interview by a news channel, he clearly stated, “rape is a daily scenario, which is also rampant in Delhi. I do not know why the media gets hyped up with these incidents. Laws have been implemented against rape and I am sure that the Assam government will take action in due course.”

The truth of rape has hit Assam hard. The people of the state are shaken and infuriated over the alleged gang rape of a 31-year-old woman in a moving auto in Lakhimpur district last Friday. The rapists not only violated the woman sexually but also allegedly brutalized her before throwing her out of the moving vehicle, leading to her death later at a hospital.

It is a chauvinist comment and establishes how type-set our political leaders are. They have a fixed frame of mind and have taken rape for granted. In a way, these politicians deem that women should not raise their voices against sexual assault or harassment at workplace. All that he said was a type of soft threat.

No wonder why crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh are on rise and mostly go unreported. With the anger over SP leader’s remarks mounts, shouldn’t Samajwadi Party leadership fire him?

This disaster has reached plague ratios. Earlier this year, the World Health Organization released the first methodical study of worldwide data on the pervasiveness of violence against women. This ground hitting work divulged that completely one third of women globally – almost one billion women – will face physical violence from a male partner in their life span.

In reply, the report suggests a variety of actions, counting care for victims, education, empowerment, compulsory reporting – all of which, while significant, are not new. Women’s groups have been supporting for and executing such programs for decades. But the crisis has continued or even augmented in rich and poor countries equally – across age groups, classes, cultures and races.

It’s time to shift our thoughts and outlook. We require moving our focus to the behaviour and inspirations of the men and asking a different set of questions. What is happening with the men who are carrying out these cruel acts? Why do so many men mistreat women and girls – mostly their own family members? Why is men’s violent behaviour against women such widespread across the world at present? And how do organizations in our society disseminate the practice of men ill-treating and violating women?

Violence against women is directly related to the unbending standards that describe what it is to be a man. Globally there is a dominant model of manhood; men are guided to desire to and evaluate themselves based on this principle. Men are anticipated to be monetarily independent, become husbands and fathers, be the main income earner for the family, be successful in the eyes of peers, and be in control and wield power. These prominent standards of manhood are kept alive by societies, communities, peers, families and even women – and undertake more severe types in some cultures.

But for most men, predominantly poor men, there is a vast gap between these hopes and what they can attain. In the face of unceasing poverty, disparity, exclusion, jobless economies, many men think they don’t meet the standards. How then, do these men demonstrate themselves as men? All too frequently it is by the use of power and violence – and female partners are effortless targets. Such conduct is usually the only way for many men to exert authority in societies where they are made to think toothless and futile. This is the harsh truth that remains unacknowledged or misinterpreted in much of the debates on gender violence in the present scenario.

In a survey of 1,552 men in India, one third of men said they were embarrassed to face their family as they were unemployed or did not earn sufficient income. Those jobless men who accounted being stressed or humiliated were 50 percent more probable to use violence against a partner and twice possible to have used sexual violence than men who did not account financial stress.

Eventually, societies should confront the impossible to attain demands of manhood and the patriarchal formations that strengthen these demands. We must redefine ideas of manhood and look for option masculine identities that are not negative to women and men similarly. This is a long-term outlook but it kicks off by altering the way we – both women and men – raise boys to be men.

In sensible terms, we have to incorporate men completely in programming attempts. Targeting men in sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, fatherhood and HIV/AIDS programs, for instance, has brought constructive changes in men’s approach and conduct. Such programs are increasing across South Asia and in other places and showing positive outcomes.

We also immediately have to better appreciate male inspirations for violence and prevention tactics should be tailored. We should work in a different way and more imaginatively to stop this atrocious and invasive form of brutality. This implies addressing men’s gender issues to stop violence before it occurs, and making men a vital part of the solution.

Rahul was compelled to conclude his speech at the city’s Umaid Stadium, as people started dispersing from the venue just 13 minutes after he took over the mike.

The congregation that mainly comprised youth constantly howled him even as the Congress scion had hardly begun the speech. After about 10 minutes, the people lost tolerance and started going. Dissimilar to his Delhi counterpart, the Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot, although, made no request to the people to stay seated and left it for Rahul Baba to end his address.

Rahul had reached hour-and-a-half behind the schedule for the election rally on the chief minister’s territory. Some audiences were from distant areas of the district plus from neighbouring Pali and Barmer regions, which together have 23 assembly seats. These people reached the place early morning. However, Rahul was supposed to arrive at 2 pm, but he emerged the dais only around 3:30 pm.

Disheartening the audience, the Congress vice-president started his speech reiterating the comments and claims against BJP that he made at Chittorgarh, Churu, Alwar and Salumber. Rahul said Congress was the sole party that was moving ahead holding all the castes and communities, that BJP was dividing the people while his party was working to break the wall that was holding the poor in the vicious cycle of poverty.

Rahul baba how many times will you get yourself insulted at different places but for the same reason? Your party has failed people’s expectations and now you have failed to impress the audience.

I would advise Sonia Gandhi to put her decision of taking political sanyas on hold and jump into the field as a face-saver for Congress.

Around ten young men entered the city through the sea route, armed with weapons and ammunition, and outspread to various prime locations to begin their attacks. Lobbing grenades and firing weapons, they entered hotels, a railway station and some other buildings, creating a hostage state and killing scores and wounding even more. India has been traumatized constantly by militant strikes blamed on terrorists in latest years, but this was more complicated and bolder. We remember the sore memories of the militant strike on Mumbai on its fifth anniversary.
