Some reports said Shahid Kapoor was the real reason behind Karan leaving the show midway. It really was shocking, but thankfully Karan Johar cleared the air. He shared with 9XE.com,”My leaving Jhalak had nothing to do with Shahid. The Jhalak team always knew that I would be leaving at this point to start my film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. I will be in touch with them on the weekly basis. I should be back next season and I hope they still want me. I felt very sad and bad about my exit midway through the journey.
