Please don’˜t attempt these remakes!

Last week when I was returning home from work, I was drawn towards these gigantic hoardings of Swastik Production’s Mahabharata. Not only hoardings but we all were bombarded with articles, advertisements and YouTube promos – remake of this epic looked everything that we would want to watch. Instead of the morning slot on Sunday, when BR Chopra’s Mahabharata used to get the entire family together, the remake chose the 9pm slot and we all speculated some exceptional production value. Sight!  It turned out to be a complete dud. Tacky chroma shots, bad acting, unconvincing actors, it all felt like a big mess.

Just like Bollywood, Indian television has also tried to bring the magic of some of the classics like Hum Log, Ramayan, Hum Paanch, Ye Jo Hai Zindagi that turned out to be an epic fail! There used to be that simplicity of production, honesty about the characters and charm of those actors that is hard to recreate. So here’s warning all the production houses, Please don’t attempt these remakes!
