Koffee With Karan season 4 review: KJo at his catty err’¦chatty best!

Karan Johar kickstarted Koffee With Karan 4 with his first guest Salman Khan. KJo made sure he asked Salman some ‘eyebrow raising’ questions and Sallu answered the director with some equally shocking replies. Karan’s smokin’ hot coffee and confab session with Khan scandalised you in bits and gave you the giggles in certain parts. KJo unabashedly used the ‘V’ word on the show, and Salman shamelessly lied by claiming that he’s a sweet and simple 40-year-old virgin.

Impressive portions: When Salman put his foot down and spoke about incorrigible people who try and cash in on the whole Salman-SRK war. He made it very clear that whoever plans to bitch about Shahrukh the next time around and think that he’ll entertain it, should refrain from doing so.

The interaction between Salman’s dad Salim Khan and Karan was quite interesting. Salim saab spoke about how he broke down when he saw his son in an abysmal state at Jodhpur jail, with cops referring to Salman by his prison number instead of his name. These emotional anecdotes gave the show a very candid and a personal touch.

Image building exercise: Looks like Sallu entered the show with some PR strategies in mind as well. The way he painted this rosy picture of how he is a boring Salman now who has buried his rash self somewhere deep down, looked and sounded slightly fake.

All in all: I liked the silly sense of humour and the candid gossip. Johar made sure he brings the best out of the celeb and portrays a side the viewers have never seen before. There was backbiting, serious discussions and loads of revelations about the celeb’s life. Totally worth my time…
