Why we are geared up to see Ankita Sharma sizzle in the Laila avatar on Rang Rasiya?
Rang Rasiya is seeing new highs after a lull in TRPs during its initial run.
With the love story between the lead pair Paro and Rudra heating up the screens, the makers found this a ripe time for introducing a third angle in the story.
Remember, the character of a Banjaran Laila, played by the lovely Ankita Sharma at the very outset of the serial? Well, she is back and it is her passion that will compete against Paros’ wifely love to gain Rudra’s attention. Over the last one month, Ankita’s character had not been in the plot, but her zeal to avenge Paro for taking her lover away will now introduce more meanders in the plot.
We got up close with Ankita Sharma and quizzed her on why she chose to play such a negative role when her Goody-Miss-Two Shoes image is sealed. Last seen on Life Ok’s Amrit Manthan, the lovely lass turned heads with her varied roles in serial such as Jai Maa, on Big Magic as well.
In fact, the offer to rejoin Rang Rasiya came at a juncture when Ankita had been shooting for a Telegu film with a popular banner down South. She says that she nursed no wounds against her brief hiatus due to the makers’ decision but was happy that the break allowed her to keep up more projects. She says that he always knew that the plot could require her to be back. She is also comfortable with the grey shades that Laila comes with, for her passions and the hunger to get her lover to be with her is the driving force.
However, she is prepared for the fact that if the TRP’s fail to stay steady with her track, then the makers will have to find a way to again erase Laila out. On this, she quips that she is mature enough to handle such things and understands the nuances of the telly business.
Having debuted with the Sony TV show Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, Ankita had got popular reception pretty early in her career. However, Ankita says that she had always been raring to go on a negative note ever since she began acting. She also says that Saurabh Tewari is her mentor and is the only reason why she nodded to Rangrasiya.
Ankita also says that she eyes a Bollywood career sometime later but that is not on the list of priorities currently. She wraps up saying, “Once I got the role, there had been loads of apprehension. However, the audience today is smarter and they do not confuse actor’s real selves as their characters on screen.”
She believes in dealing with a project at a time and thus, her focus is perched clearly on Rangrasiya, for now!
