These festivals give us an amazing insight of art, literature, folk culture and also help us appreciate some hidden talent found in these festivals and fairs of India.
So, we bring you the list of some of these festivals and fairs of India that you must be a proud part of, this January!
Goa Lokotsav Fair (January 9 – 18)
This folk festival takes place in the capital city of Goa, Panjim in an open air theatre of Kala Academy. Folk artists and artisans from all parts of the country take part in this beautiful festival on a very large scale. This is a festival that showcases a great amalgamation of different cultures and handicrafts. It basically provides a platform for the traditional craftsmen and folk artists from all over India.
Kenduli Festival (January 14 – 17)
This unusual festival showcasing Bengali folk music takes place in a small village named Kenduli, located 30 km away from Shanti Niketan, West Bengal. You witness authentic Bengali folk musicians who will give lovely music performances that will just win your heart. Using instruments like Iktara, they recite songs about the philosophy of life.
Jaipur Literature Festival (January 21 – 25)
This festival marks the large congregation of people who love literature, coming from all parts of the world. Started in 2006, this literature festival takes place in Jaipur every year. It serves as a paradise for many literature and book lovers and you will find many renowned people being a part of this festival.
VadFest (January 23 – 26)
Vadodra city will lit up this January by hosting the amazing art and cultural festival which will be full of numerous events. With around 50 events at 15 venues taking place across the city for 4 days, the VadFest will surely be one of the largest festivals of art and culture taking place in India! There will be live performances of many known musicians and dancers in the festival.
