It’s never a good idea to work with your spouse, because well, crap can hit the roof. If you have to share your professional life along with your personal one, it’s not going to be pretty.

Even if you can live with the bickering, you just can’t cope with the ego hassles. Agreed that you save up on lot of petrol, but that’s just not worth it. Here are four reasons why sharing an office with your spouse can lead to divorce. Read on!

Power-struggle:
Fighting with your co-workers for a raise is ugly, but when you have to sit through appraisals with your spouse, it’s batshit crazy. It can not only make your work hell, but also make living with them under the same roof a major issue. And if you’re a woman taking home a fat pay cheque while your husband is making peanuts, you’re seeing divorce papers in bold prints.

Boss’ pet, is that you?
What if your boss digs you, but can’t stand the site of your spouse? Won’t that affect your dynamics at work? You’ll get the best deals, free lunches and promotions (among other stuff), while your spouse would have to bear the humiliation of being the underperforming one. Ouch.

Taking work home:
If you ever happen to take work home, you’re going to make your spouse MAD. Because he/she doesn’t want to discuss work at the dinner table, as he/she has had enough of it! And discussing Mary’s bad hairstyle or Kumar’s poor hygiene doesn’t make for interesting post-work conversation. Does. Not.

No vacays together:
Let’s face it, getting an off is like plucking your eyeballs out (especially at a corporate) and when two of you have to go on a vacay, all hell will break loose. Even if your departments are different, the HR can totally screw your plans up.

Be wise and avoid working with your spouse because it might lead to a split that can never be patched up. Unless you are starting your own business, no point being THE ‘couple’ at work.
