If you’ve been concentrating hard on something and do not want to get disturbed, the best way to convey your message is to use signs around your cubicle or desk. Use quirky ways of saying it, so that your colleagues or others, who are always up for a chat, can know that it’s not the right time to talk. Your sign could say, “Busy. Emails only” or “I need some space” or things like that.

2. The Headphone Rule
Practice the headphone rule. No one goes out of the way to talk to someone wearing a headphone or ear gear, It’s the best way to show that you’re working on something very important and don’t have time to chat. There are times when I’ve put the earphones without playing any music and believe me, it worked.

3. Technology Advancements
You could kill distraction using technology as well. There are certain apps that can block websites or help black out your desktop, to make only one program visible at a time. Also, there are apps that calculate how much time is spent on a particular website. Good way to judge your productivity at work, ain’t it?

4. Work in Shifts
Working on a project for a specific period of time, has shown good productivity results, rather than dragging it along continuously for long hours. This will allow you to achieve targets with short term breaks as well.

5. Caffeine
The oldest and most sought trick to get you away from distractions. Coffee or tea or any caffeine induced drink makes you more alert. But an overdose could also lead in you feeling low irreasonably.

Having a job with a reasonable workload makes work flow better and easier. All you are required to do is to kill distractions and love your job.
