Many of the tweets about Sonam’s wedding went viral on Twitter as they were laced with humour and wit.

1 – Sonam promoting her film

Tanmay Bhat, one of the founder members of India’s leading digital content creator AIB, tweeted “Can’t believe @sonamkapoor actually got married to promote ‘Veere Di Wedding’, insane how far movie promotions have come.” Obviously, the tweet was meant to be taken in good humour as Sonam is Tanmay’s friend.

2 – Numerous photos and videos

The media went on an overdrive in covering the event and one was bombarded with hundreds of pictures and videos of the wedding on the internet. Weddings in India are an elaborate affair and there were several pictures from the pre-wedding and post-wedding events as well. Comedian Sapan Verma posted a funny tweet stating that “I have seen more photos and videos of Sonam Kapoor’s wedding than my own”.

3 – Jhakaas!

A twitter user named Suheil Merchant wrote “I assume when #SonamAnandWedding wedding pheras must have got over and when the couple must have gone to take blessings from @AnilKapoor , the proud father would have said #jhakaas @sonamakapoor”. The tweet was in reference to the famous catchphrase Sonam’s father actor Anl Kapoor has used in his films and continues to use it in public functions.

4 – The secret photographer

Taking a dig at the continuous updates and the massive flow of pictures and videos, stand-up comedian Atul Khatri said “Dear Sonam Kapoor & Anand Ahuja. There is a guest in your midst who is taking videos of your private functions and spreading it on WhatsApp. Just thought I will let you know”. The pictures and the videos were, of course, circulated by media people but Atul meant to take a sly dig at the dispersion of private pictures of a wedding on a public platform.

5 – Every day is a celebration

A Twitter user with the id @krazyfrog tweeted that “You can post any photo of Sonam Kapoor and say it’s from her wedding.” Sonam Kapoor has always been known for having a great sense of fashion and what this particular user wanted to state the fact that every other day Sonam looks like she has been dressed up for her wedding. Even if she was not getting married, she would have looked as gorgeous as she does on any other given day.

#SonamKiShaadi – Sonam’s wedding must have had a healing effect on the Kapoor family as earlier this year they dealt with the loss of Sridevi, a family member.  The wedding festivities were extensively covered by the media and her fans keenly looked forward to the next set of pictures and videos that would come out. We wish the couple a married life filled with bliss and love.
