Till now, it was known for the Bengal Tigers is also the home for Lord Vishnu. A beautiful statue of reclining Vishnu is present within the intense areas of the Bandhavgarh forest. According to mythology, this place is the land of Lord Rama. Rama has given this land as a gift to his brother Lakshmana. As Rama is another incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the story behind their presence of identity is proven by the stone made statue beside the Vetravali River.

There is also a temple which is dedicated to Sita present on the top of the hill. It is visible as easily from the forest itself.

Vetravali River Ganga in Bandhavgarh forest

The small stream and pond are present aside from the Stone made statue coming out from the foot. It is known as Charan Ganga which is mentioned in the scriptures as Vetravali river Ganga. The water stream is known as the lifeline that is flowing for ages. Also, the spreading umbrella of the serpents above the head of the stone made statue is known as Shesh Shaiya. The quiet nature speaks about the calmness and peace present in the ambience.

Covered and surrounded by the dense green forests with the calmness around the statue enhances the mythological presence of Rama in India.

This place has great importance as it the ancient forest where the fort was built to keep an eye on Sri Lanka and the demon Ravana. Vedas such as Shiva Purana, Skanda Purana, have mentioned this fort, so it proves it is one of the ancient forests that India still can experience and relate to Indian mythology.

Ancient forest place for yogis and sages

Apart from being a religious place the Bandhavgarh forest, Madhya Pradesh is for travel enthusiasts, Yogis and sages. Several rulers have ruled while the place has not lost its immense beauty. The statue is carved of one large stone about 1000 years ago or more. Aside is the statue of Shiva linga and the other is of Brahma. The three superior power of the universe that leads the world according to Hindu mythology, Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara.

The presence of oxygen is in large amount around the Vetravali river. It is not because of the forest trees but also with the contribution of cyanobacteria in the water. This is a bluish-green bacteria that not only beautifies the appearance of water but also evolves a large amount of oxygen.

Apart from it, the Bandhavgarh forest was the home of white tigers but no longer exists now. The Bengal tigers density is high and the villagers can find them roaming around but causing any casualties. Leopards and tigers visit Shesh Shaiya for drinking water and enjoy the peace and calmness of the forests.

Exploring a compact place with the blend of travelling, to gain knowledge of Indian mythology, experience the beauty of nature is in Bandhavgarh forest of India. Place for the priests and sages to meditate around the calm and breezy forest near the ancient river Ganga.

Millions and millions of pilgrims from the world and India itself worship as Mother Ganga, you will find that the temples are built by the bank of river Ganga.

In Holy Vedas, you will find beautiful narrations of God and Goddesses describing Ganga. Mythological history describes river Ganga engrossed by different stories, the privilege and importance that the longest river has achieved no other sacred river is worshipped with similar importance.

In Indian mythological history Ganga has been described as the following:

Birth history of River Ganga:

In Ramayana, Ganga has been introducing as the daughter of King Himavat and Queen Menaka.

One of the most popular and interesting parts of history described ancestor of Lord Ram who decided to perform the Ashwamedha, the ritual will make King Sagara the most powerful king in the world.

But he was incapable of finding out as it was stolen by Lord Indra tied up the strongest horse outside the ashrama of Sage Kapila’s. Finally King Sagar with his princes, 60 in numbers decided to search for the horse, finally, they found the horse tied near the ashram of Sage Kapila. Believing that Kapila was the culprit began to insult him furious sage turned them to ashes. Later King’s grandson convinced Kapila for salvage which was possible through the arrival of Ganga. Though Anshuman and Dilip, father and son plead but was not able to convince Lord Brahma.

Later Bhagiratha, son of Dilip convinced Lord Brahma, But Ganga was not ready to flow through the earth and therefore decided to destroy the earth through water flow of Ganga. Bhagirathi felt the fierceness of Ganga and prayed to Lord Shiva, finally shiva trapped river Ganga into his “Jata” or tied hair or matted hair locks.

Shiva has introduced as Ganga’s his wife known as “ Gangadhara” as he locked Ganga and slowly streamed into small streamlines through the earth as river Bhagirathi, Alaknanda, Janhvi, Saraswati, Bhilangana, Rishiganga, and Mandakini.

Jahnusta or Jahnvi

While Ganga followed Bhagiratha she destroyed many villages and forests, sage Jahnvi drowned but with his distinctive and yogic power survived and annoyed Jahnvi decided to finish Ganga and drank all the water from the rivers, seas and oceans. Once again Bhagiratha pleaded to the Sage and was Ganga was released from the thigh and thus Ganga is also known as “Jahnavi”.

Vedas also describe that Ganga first filled the oceans and fulfilled the thirst of Earth and then released the 60000 sons and was then blessed to be worshipped as Hindu Goddess “Ganga”.

River Ganga is still flowing today from the Himalayas origin the glaciers of Yamunotri flowing through different states or parts of India that meets up to the Bay of Bengal.

Ganga is the longest river in India flowing down with different names into different streams, though the mythological history describes the birth of Mother Ganga who is another replicate of Goddess Gauri or Parvati.

Even the Honourable Supreme Court too is backing the dissenters as it is nearly impossible to clean the Ganges even in 200 years. Looks like, Modi government has to brainstorm a convincing clean-up plan with stages and schedules that prompts Supreme Court to give its nod into resurrection of Ganges.

The ministry of Water resources deemed the cleaning of Ganges as its priority for it there is really alarming indications of the pollution perpetuating and beefing up near future. We will jot down here reasons why should we put it as a priority now:

Cleaning of River Ganga –

1. The population around it:

Figuratively, around 37 percent of India’s 1.2 billion population inhabit around the Ganges whose live thrive around it. That is to say, they depend on the River Ganga for drinking water, irrigation, livelihood et al.

2. The spiritual cause:

A lot of people turn to Ganges for spiritual sustenance so we should ascertain the water is not literally but practically ‘holy’. Hindus take a dip in the Ganges and worship it as a mother deity because they believe that its water is purifying and cleanses you off your sins.

3. It has become a foul-smelling sewer:

The Ganges unleashes its beauty when the sun is about to rise in the dawn but as soon as the dusk falls and the darkness engulfs, the river’s polluted side is unveiled. The long spans of it is tar-black replete with industrial wastage, human corpses, animal carcasses and tell me what not.

4. Ganges is not only dirty but toxic now:

River Ganga water has well past the phase of being called dirty and slowly mutating into all things toxic. It can bear many life-threatening diseases and we can’t sit as mute spectators.

5. It is unsafe for drinking:

The fecal coliform count has exceeded 50 per 100 ml water and 500 per 100 ml which is generally deemed as unsafe for drinking.

6. It has become unsafe for agriculture:

A larger share of India’s agriculture depends on River Ganga and the count of fecal coliform around Varanasi is 1-2 million per millilitre of water which is not suitable for agriculture and rather damage the crops.

8. Entire Upperbasin of Ganges is polluted:

There are several significant hydro-power projects are operational in the upper basin of Ganges and 16 new dams across 1.,600 km between Varanasi and Hoogly are in the pipeline so there is an urgent need to clean the Ganges.
