Cartoons every 90s kids have watched – We had a different childhood as 90s kids, our world thrived around cartoons and indoor gaming unlike children of today who absorb themselves into smartphone gaming.

No denying, cartoons were more emotionally enriching than smartphones and Voot today. Also, we had no access to learning apps and we learned from first hand experiences. Cartoons were our perfect refuge when it poured cats and dogs outside and we were barred to go out and play. So much so, we went watching them till hours on end to drive the mommies outright crazy.

The cartoon characters occupied our thoughts and we still miss watching them.

1. Scooby Doo:

This was an animated television series from Hanna-Barbera Productions whose theme song is still a ear-worm to us “Scooby Dooby Doo, Where are you?” A pup named Scooby Doo went on adventurous pursuits with his hoomans and did some really hair-raising stuff in each episode that comprised of different cases.

2. Teletubbies:

It was another pre-school television series which was created by Rangdoll productions. Three multi-coloured bear-like creatures called teletubbies went about their frolics and gambols and returned home to eat pancakes made us roll on the floor laughing.

3. Mowgli:

Our summer vacations were lit up with this animated television series inspired from Rudyard Kipling’s Jungle Book. It was about an abandoned small jungle boy Mowgli sharing a fun-filled life with wild-life animals. He hunted, tracked and even behaved same like the animals and we doted on him completely. Remember the song? “Jungle jungle baat chali hai pata chala hai, are chaddi pehen ke phool khila hai, phool khila hai”, of course you do!

4. Winnie the Pooh:

Winnie the Pooh was a cutie-patootie bear that fed on honey and helped his fellow friends. His sidekick was a little piglet whose name was, well Piglet! Their jungle adventures were our favourite at that time. This character was created by English author A.A Milne and later adapted into a cartoon series.

5. Heidi:
Heidi was a Japanese anime series which featured small girl with a big heart living in hilly terrain. This was adapted from Johanna Spryi’s Swiss novel ‘Heidi’s years of wandering and learning” where Heidi a little girl was raised by her aunt after the death of her parents. She lived in the hills happily while waiting for her aunt to return from Frankfurt who went there to seize a job opportunity.

6. Dexter’s Laboratory:

This was a predominant cartoon series in the Cartoon Network where a genius boy Dexter invented serious stuff in his secret laboratory while his elder sister Dee Dee fooled around and administered some brutal sibling rivalry onto him. Dexter even had a pet lab-monkey who was a secret superhero.

7. Johnny Bravo:

This was an American animated television series from Hannan-Barbera productions. It featured a muscular, loutish and insipid guy who was a self-proclaimed womanizer who mouther cheesy pick-up lines to pick random women who eventually rejected him for his dim-wit.

8. Richie Rich:

Our Sunday mornings were made when Richie Rich, the rich guy appeared on screen. Richie’s opulent lifestyle dropped jaws and he was our hot favourite back then. This was another animated series by Hannan-Barbera productions based upon Harvey comic character of the same name.

9. Tom and Jerry:

Another cartoon series by Hannah Barbera productions that was heart-melting to say the least. It featured an angry cat named Tom and a mischievous rat named Jerry. We went out of breath laughing when Tom made numerous futile attempts to catch Jerry and he made them go in vain with his astute cleverness only the leave the house-mistress fuming with the mayhem their rivalry caused.

10. The Adventures of Tintin:

This comic character was adapted from Belgian cartoonist Herge’s sleuth character Tintin. It was a French-Canadian comic series which featured a cunning detective unravelling dangerous mysteries all over the world with his devoted pet dog for company.
