While Team Anna is ‘okay’ with the current Lokpal draft, former Team Anna members are finding it hard to swallow that the core issue is going out of their hands.
When Rahul Gandhi pushed for passing the Lokpal bill in the parliament by calling and emergency press meet with P Chidamabaram, Kapil Sibal and Ajay Maken, he had described the bill as a “strong bill” that will wipe out corruption from the country.
The anti-corrupyion crusader, Anna Hazare, who was sitting on fast in Ralegan Siddhi gave a go-ahead to the government having a look at the draft of the bill. Even UPA opposition, Bhartiya Janata Party, announced that it will not debate Lokpal bill and will support the government in passing it.
But the former Team Anna members are raising hoarse voices over Anna being too easy.
The fall of Anna and Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP is an open secret. The very decision of Kejriwal joining politics had irked Anna. It became more evident day by day. It was out in the broad day-light again when a spat broke out between Team Anna member VK Singh and AAP senior leader Vinod Rai. Anna had forbade AAP members to join him at the fast venue. But Kejriwal announced joining Anna in audience almost forcing himself on latter.
When Anna’s announcement on being fine with government’s version of Lokpal Bill came out, Kejriwal tweeted against Anna’s decision. “I m really surprised. How can Anna accept sarkari lokpal bill? Sarkari lokpal is a “jokepal”. Who is misguiding Anna?” Kejriwal tweeted. AAP leader Lumar Vishwas backed Kejriwal on this and he too called Lokpal a ‘jokepal’.
Responding to this provocation, Team Anna member Kiran Bedi jumped into the middle of the Lokpal controversy, saying that contrary to the assertions of AAP leader Kumar Vishwas, the Lokpal is certainly not a Jokepal. “Lokpal is certainly not a Jokepal! Those who term it this way perhaps want to keep d issue alive & not want it get started against corruption,” she tweeted a while ago.
“Thanku for all d stones being hurled as insinuations ref Lokpal: Being preserved as mementos! (Pl read bill+recommendations of Select Comm),” she added.
With Bedi saying it out loud, it is becoming more than clear that AAP wants to keep the issue alive as it is one of the core matter for its formation. With the passage of the bill the cause will be lost and this is the hard part to swallow for the party.
Vishwas has contended that the Aam Aadmi Party had no quarrel with Anna Hazare, and that the Lokpal bill did not belong to any one person – not even Anna. But with this, he has uncovered the obvious.
