CWG Scam Probe On Sheila: AAP’s Hope Of Revival

After so many glitches, which were actually supposed to create a wave of sympathy for AAP, finally the party has got it right. Probing Sheila is what actually should have been done much earlier which could have given the AAP government substantial support in both aspects ‘“ monetarily and physically.

The Aam Aadmi Party had come to power riding on the anti-corruption agenda that it had held forth in front of the people. It had promised that it will probe the role of former chief minister Sheila Dikshit in the Commonwealth Games. But it got lost somewhere between the party’s struggle to provide governance and its aspiration to go big.

Barely a day ago, the party was doing a press conference claiming that they had access to telephone conversations that proved DMK and Karunanidhi’s involvement in 2G scam. And today they have directed the anti-corruption bureau to file an FIR against Dikshit in connection with the CWG scam for siphoning off huge amount of money.

With the lok sabha elections barely 12 weeks away, AAP seems to be in a hurry to improve its image among the public and come back to its core agenda. Since Somnath Bharti’s midnight raid incident and AAP’s own aspirations of becoming a national party, there had been several incidences which threw bad light on the party and the government. The party saw its support base dwindling because of the lies and dramas it did in front of the camera.

Under pressure from opposition and its constantly reducing poll funding plus support, the party is bringing wild allegations to the fore every day. Recently it had alleged that the BJP tried to bribe one of its MLAs to topple its government. It even dared to drop big names. But the allegation fell flat due to the absence of proof. And as far as DMK is concerned, AAP is flogging a dead horse.

After so many glitches, which were actually supposed to create a wave of sympathy for AAP, finally the party has got it right. Probing Sheila is what actually should have been done much earlier which could have given the AAP government substantial support in both aspects – monetarily and physically.

Although a little late, AAP stands a chance of revival until it does something stupid again.
