Panasonic P81: Octa Core Processor Gives You Speed & 13 MP Camera Clicks Better Selfie

Panasonic P81 comes across as a stylish phablet, which brings forth worthy specs & outstanding features, and promises to deliver a strong and power-packed performance to its users.

The sensational Panasonic P81, the latest addition in the P series, is the first Octa-Core smartphone produced by the house of Panasonic. Positioning itself in the mid-ranged phablet segment, the device competes with popular domestic brands, such as, Micromax Canvas Knight A350, Intex Aqua Octa, and Karbon Octane.

The launch of Panasonic P81 is great news for all those who wish to own a stylish smartphone with smart configurations and useful software.

Recently unveiled for the Indian market, the Japanese electronics giant is also offering goodies worth INR 11,900 in the form of flip cover, screen guard, and digital services for a limited period from Evernote, Hungama, and others.    

Design & Built

Featuring a black leatherette finish, the Panasonic P81 has a sturdy built, despite its slim profile. With a chrome-finished band running across its sides, the phone is only 7.9 mm thick.

Features

A remarkable 5.5-inch HD IPS display, bearing 1280×720 pixels resolution, graces the front of the phone. Powered by a 1.7GHz ‘True Octa-Core processor,’ the smartphone comes loaded with 1 GB of RAM and Mali 450 GPU. It runs Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) garnished with Panasonic’s own Play Life UI. Other Panasonic P81 features include dual-SIM capability, dual-standby, 3G network, 3.5mm audio jack, FM Radio with RDS, Gesture Play, Multi Play, Smart Ringer, Pop-I Player, Device Cleaner, and more. The device brings on board an in-built storage of 8GB, which is expandable by another 32GB using a microSD card. Connectivity options include 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11, b/g, GPS with AGPS, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 3.0, Micro USB 2.0, and GPRS with EDGE. 

Camera

The device sports a whopping 13 MP camera at the rear end, packed with features, such as, auto focus, 28mm wide-angle lens, f/2.2 aperture, 1080p video recording, and LED flash. It also houses a 2 MP front-facing camera for video chatting and clicking selfies.

Battery Life

A voluminous 2500 mAh battery fuels the phone, providing 13 hours of talk time.

Price Range

The price of Panasonic P81 hovers between INR 18,000 to INR 20,000.

Overall Performance

Flaunting a sharp and vibrant screen, the smartphone does not show any lags or hiccups and promises great speed with seamless gaming and browsing experience. The incredible looks and the swappable colorful back covers deliver oodles of style and glamour. The pre-installed software and apps account for a totally customized interface for the owners. While the Gesture Play enables users to utilize gestures for performing actions, the Multi-Play allows simultaneous usage of two apps. The Device Cleaner kills the background activities and the Pop-i Player enables easy viewing of videos in small floating windows. The only down side is its internal storage, which is a paltry 8 GB, out of which only 5.5 GB is user accessible. However, the microSD card does compensate for the issue to a certain extent.     

Verdict

With a host of impressive Panasonic P81 specs, the smartphone is an all-rounder with a decent price. By virtue of its strong brand name, large-screen, dual-SIM functionality, and blazing-fast processor, this mid-ranger phablet has enough to lure its customers.

At first glance, it seems that the tech giant has kept its commitment to deliver an innovative product to its consumers. However, only time will tell how Panasonic P81 fares in terms of performance and functionality.
