Micromax Canvas Win W092 & Canvas Win W121: The Cheapest Windows 8.1 SmartPhone!

Micromax, has launchedWindows 8.1 perked smartphones, namely Micromax Canvas Win W121 and Micromax Canvas Win W092, the cheapest smartphones.

Indian phone maker, Micromax, launched on 16th June, two new Windows Phone 8.1 powered smartphones, codenamed, Micromax Canvas Win W121 and Micromax Canvas Win W092.

The news of launch of Micromax Canvas Win series comes a few months after the manufacturer’s partnership with the tech giant, Microsoft. Scheduled to roll out to retail in July, both the devices are budget offerings and mark the manufacturer’s entry in the Windows Phone OS rat race.

In fact, Micromax is the first Indian company to foray in this segment and hopes to give fierce competition to its rivals in terms of pricing.

Touted as the cheapest Windows 8.1 SmartPhone in the country, Micromax Canvas Win W092 offers decent specs and configurations to its customers. On the other hand, Micromax Canvas Win W121 provides a larger display and higher-resolution camera at an affordable price. 

Micromax Canvas Win W121

Donning a leather-finish back panel, the phone sports a 5-inch HD IPS display with 720×1280 pixels resolution, and runs Windows Phone 8.1 OS. Under the hood, ticks a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor paired with 1 GB of RAM.

The mobile boasts of an 8 MP rear camera equipped with Flash and a 2 MP front-facing shooter for video chatting and clicking selfies.  The device ships with an in-built storage of 8 GB which is expandable up to 32 GB via MicroSD card.

Fueled by a 2000 mAh juicer, the phone promises to deliver 150 hours of standby time and 8 hours of talk time. Connectivity options offered by the handset include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS/ EDGE, and GPS.

Other Micromax Canvas Win W121 features include dual-SIM slots, Proximity Sensor, Light Sensor, Gravity Sensor, and Accelerometer.

The price of Micromax Canvas Win W121 is approximately INR 9,500.

Micromax Canvas Win W092

This budgeted smartphone poses a 4-inch IPS display, with 480×800 pixels resolution, and runs Windows Phone 8.1 OS. The device derives its power from a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor coupled with 1 GB of RAM.

Equipped with a 5 MP primary camera at the rear, the phone also houses a 0.3 MP front-facing snapper. Connectivity suite of the device consists of 3G, Wi-Fi, Micro-USB, GPRS/ EDGE, and Bluetooth.

Powered by a 1500 mAh battery, the Canvas Win W092 brings on-board internal memory of 8 GB, with an option to expand it further to 32 GB with the help of a MicroSD card.

Other Micromax Canvas Win W092 features include capacitive touch screen, 3.5 mm audio jack, FM, proximity sensor, and accelerometer.

The price of Micromax Canvas Win W092 is around INR 6,500.

Loaded with good hardware and software, both the smartphones justify their price tags and are bound to lure customers who wish to possess a functional yet inexpensive Windows phone. However, the final verdict will depend on their real-time performance.
