Pakistan’s cabinet approved an amended anti-terrorism bill, empowering law enforcement agencies in the country to effectively handle terror-related cases.

Pakistan’s cabinet on Friday approved an amended anti-terrorism bill, empowering law enforcement agencies in the country to effectively handle terror-related cases, the Associated Press of Pakistan reported.

The bill was passed in a cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad. 

The bill, yet to be tabled in parliament for approval, provides an effective mechanism to protect the witnesses in terrorism cases. 

Speaking on anti-terrorism measures taken by the government, Sharif expressed satisfaction over the targeted action by paramilitary Rangers in the port city of Karachi saying it has come as a relief to the common man.

The prime minister also asked the government to extend all possible cooperation to Sindh government in improving law and order situation in the city, the business hub of the country.
