The controversial figure that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi is, he wrote a blog explaining his feelings over the Gujarat riots of 2002. This is the reaction he received from his political colleagues:

Prakash Javadekar (BJP): Any sensitive heart will understand the pain that Narendra Modiji went though for 12 years. He is now vindicated.

Manish Tewari (Congress): This is humbug. This demonstrates what his idea of pluralism and India is. The mindset of BJP and Modi is something that no one has any doubts about. Riots happened under his watch. This is an attempt to burnish Modi’s image ahead of the 2014 polls.

Himanshu Vyas (Gujarat Cong): If he really means it from his heart, he should come out and apologise in clear words.

Tanveer Jafri (Zakia Jafri’s son): What does he have to say about his speech in Becharaji, what does he have to say about the fake encounters of Muslims in the state?

Kamal Farooqui: Modi’s blog post language shows no remorse. There is nothing apologetic about it. It was a political statement. He may be disturbed by a puppy dying under his car, but he isn’t bothered by death of humans.

KC Tyagi (JD(U)): These are crocodile tears that are fake.
