India’s archaeologists began with a huge treasure hunt following assertions of a seer who dreamt about 1,000 tonnes of gold buried beneath a palace in Daundia Khera village in Uttar Pradesh. The saint said if the treasure found, it can possibly restore the sick Indian economy. However, his claims were found to be false as not treasure was recovered under the historical monument. India, identified as the land of gods and goddesses, is visited by millions of devotees flocking to different holy places each year. These shrines, sacred for their religious importance, are showered with valuable gifts worth millions of rupees by the devotees.
