Foods that lower cholesterol – Cholesterol is everywhere these days all thanks to the sedentary life style we are leading.

According to recent survey youngsters in age group 30’s and 40’s are suffering high cholesterol issues.  No kids and elders are no exception it’s high time we take care of our self. We all know that high cholesterol builds plaque in arteries and when cholesterol increases to a level person might get stroke, Heart attack, arterial diseases etc.

Cholesterol comes into the body along with the food that we consume. Sadly, all the tasty food has lots of cholesterol loaded and the craving for these tasty stuff just can’t be controlled, which results in a lot of bad cholesterol in our body.

Troubled with those extra pounds and cholesterol levels well here are some healthy Foods that lower cholesterol levels in the body.

  1. Fatty Fish:

Intake of fish for about two to three times a week reduces the saturated fats in the body. Fishes like wild salmon, sardines, trout, herring and bluefin tuna can be taken for the purpose. These reduces the LDL (low- density lipoprotein) cholesterol as fish is been replaced by red meat.

  1. Nuts:

Nuts having a lot of fibres, proteins, vitamins, nutrients play a very important role in cutting down the bad cholesterol from the body. As the nuts are high in unsaturated fats they help in the lowering of the bad cholesterol levels in the body.

  1. Oats:

Oats is one good option to cut down cholesterol. Taking one cup of oatmeal lowers the cholesterol from 5% to 8% as it contains soluble fibres. Topping with some fruits like bananas, strawberries and even nuts makes it a tastier option.

  1. Apples, Grapes, Strawberries, Citrus fruits:

Rich in soluble fibres that lowers LDL

  1. Vegetable Oil:

Vegetable oils like sunflower, safflower oils helps in reducing the cholesterol.

  1. Eggplant And Okra:

Eggplant high in viscous fibre reduces the LDL (bad) cholesterol. Okra contains fibres that regulate the digestive system and reducing the cholesterol.

  1. Soy:

Soybeans and other soy products like tofu, soya milk, edamame helps in reducing the LDL           cholesterol. It contains soluble fibres that even reduce the cholesterol levels in the blood.

  1. Barley And Whole Grains:

Many studies show that barley places a very important role in reducing or cutting down the bad cholesterol from our bodies. Also improves the heart’s health. 

  1. Beans:

Good for food digestion. Reduces bad cholesterol and cardiovascular disease’s.

  1. Fibre Supplement:

These can be resorted to as last option as they are not natural option. But they have good amounts of soluble fibre in them, helping us lower the cholesterol levels. Supplements like psyllium can to taken for this purpose.
