Consumer price-based inflation up 10.09 percent in October

Driven by high food prices, the consumer price-based inflation (CPI) rose to 10.09 percent in October from 9.84 percent in September, government data showed in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Driven by high food prices, the consumer price-based inflation (CPI) rose to 10.09 percent in October from 9.84 percent in September, government data showed in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The corresponding provisional inflation rates for rural and urban areas for October 2013 are 10.11 percent and 10.20 percent, respectively. Inflation rates (final) for rural and urban areas for September are 9.71 percent and 9.93 percent, respectively.

Prices of vegetables were up by 45.67 percent, cereals and products have gone up by 12.01 percent, egg, fish and meat went up by 11.78 percent and prices of food and beverages were up by 12.56 percent, the data showed.
