As crazy as it sounds, more and more young adults are calling their relationships off. Not because of the social media influx, but due to the good old problem of ‘˜communication lag’.

As crazy as it sounds, more and more young adults are calling their relationships off. Not because of the social media influx, but due to the good old problem of ‘communication lag’.

Who would have thought that in the day and age of WhatsApp and YoTurf, people would be breaking-up due to lack of communication! Here are five reasons why couples are going their separate ways…read on:

Selfish you:
In a relationship, especially after being with each other for a long time, the true colours of the person come to fore. He/she might suddenly start acting selfish. And that would be the end of it all. Ouch. Some people are born selfish, whether it’s in their conduct on general behaviour, they just can’t think past ‘me’. If you’re stuck with somebody like this, you have no choice but to let go. It’s not just about mundane issues, but also bed room stuff.

Communication lag:
Despite so many tools at her disposal, we are finding it hard to stay in touch. From ‘Last Seen’ to ‘GPS-Tracking’, we have become spies than lovers. How many times have you tracked your lover’s social feed to find out where he/she has been? We think we are a smart bunch of people who do not want to be betrayed, but we are losing out on love in the process. Is it worth it? Sure not.

Workaholics:
We are high achievers, aiming for the golden spoon but forgetting to even care about our own feelings and needs. Everybody needs love and affection, nobody can exist by just being a work horse. Since there’s no time to meet, talk and discuss about life, there’s no way you can make a relationship work.

Too much, too soon:
We don’t have time to take things at their pace, we rush into things as if we are chased by a bunch of mad dogs. What we really need is time and energy to sit and think about the future. But no! We meet, speed-date, break-up and move on. In fact, a recent survey on couples of this age clearly states how they are going their different ways due to the ‘too much, too’ soon’ syndrome.

Freedom is at stake:
With money, power and qualification comes the desire to be independent and outgoing. But relationships are stifling as they take your freedom away. You can’t do and be the way you want to, you are accountable to somebody. With girls and boys having plenty of options to choose from, relationships going kaput is not even that surprising.
