Rivalry between India and Australia resumes from October 13 in the 50-over format of the game as to whom will take the number one spot in the ODI. We take a look at the past meetings between the two nations:

Australia in India, 2001, Bangalore
Riding on a superb ton by Sachin Tendulkar (139), India posted a massive 299 in the 3rd ODI against Australia. In reply, the mighty Aussies bundled up on a mere 181 to hand India a 118 run margin victory.

ICC World Cup, 2003, Johannesburg
These two nations met again (first being a group game) and this being the final of the World Cup, things were going to get much bigger. Australia posted a massive total of 359 (highest in a WC final) with skipper Ricky Ponting scoring 140. In reply, Australian bowlers got the better of the Indian batsmen and thus handed the Kangaroos their 3rd WC title.

India in Australia, VB Series 2004, Brisbane
In the closely fought encounter between Australia and India, it was the latter who came out on top with VVS Laxman scoring a magnificent century (103) as they went on to beat Oz in their own backyard.

India vs Australia, Coca-Cola cup 1998, Sharjah
With 272 runs on the board, the Australians were in the driver’s seat in the final of the Coca-Cola cup at Sharjah but on that day ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar had other plans. His 134 in the finals decimated the team from Down Under which also made the great Sir Don Bradman take notice of our master batsman.

ICC World Cup 2011, Ahmedabad
India took Australia again in a World Cup tie with the semi-final berth at stake. Aussies posted a big target of 260 with Ponting again scoring a ton (103). In reply, the India batting started on a brisk note but Yuvraj Singh ensured that the Men in Blue reached the target comprehensively.
