Everybody has a story to tell. The story may or may not sound interesting to you, yet what you’ve learnt till date is from what others have captioned in books.

What the humans learn today, have been inscribed in the books, by their ancestors in the past. Speaking of which, there is no stream of study or development wherein success was possible without the help of books.

They say books impart knowledge. If it is to be believed truly, they do much more than that.

We see why books are the best teachers you can ever have.

1. Knowledge

When you’re given admission in primary section, you’re made to repeat alphabets as your teacher says it. You learn about your verbal ability. A survey sometime back showed that those who rely on their own books rather than the word of mouth explanation, tend to consume and hence possess more knowledge as compared to others. I am not implying that people who are too much into books are the most intelligent, but those who use their knowledge from their own source, turn out to be more successful.

2. All by yourself

You are only limited by what you can imagine, and the way things are described in books, will help you expand your understanding of what is possible and what is not. Knowing about a certain thing or description of a particular place, all by yourself will create an image in your mind, instead of having placed an already made image in front of you. You will know what I am talking about if you’re into fiction books, like me. You read, you contemplate, you question and you deduce, all by yourself.

3. Moulding of personality

Some people seem destined for their careers. Their goals, ambition and personality traits just make them cut out for a certain position, which is fit for the job. But for they who need to develop their personality, there is nothing better than a book, as a start. Nobody other than you know what you want and how can you get it. While books help you know all about your likes and dislikes, it also moulds you into who you are at the same time.

4. Makes you smarter

Books offer an outstanding wealth of learning and at a price that is not even comparable to taking a course. It gives you a chance to consume huge amount of research in a relatively short amount of time. Also, you get to choose the topic of your interest, rather than digging into something that is not your cup of tea. A majority of researchers also believe that books are strongly linked to your academic achievements. So, if you’re someone who is able to engage a number of people into conversation at the same time, I’m sure it’s because of that library of information you possess.

As a kid, I seldom read books. And the ones I chose had images or pictures in them. Growing up, my love for books which included images, deluded as I loved making my own images and getting inquisitive about things not explained there. My anxiousness and thirst for a particular genre keeps increasing with every book I finish reading. The result? Well there are times when I have the answer to something, which even my elders do not.

Oh! How I love reading them.
