Kings have the vision, the insight, the courage to do something off-beat, to chart a new path, to bring a new revolution for their kingdom, for its followers. And Rajnikanth does exactly that with his new film.
Even though the movie is his daughter Soundarya’s brain-child, her baby, it is Thalaiva’s conviction and trust that made this project see the light of the day after so many hurdles and delays. The film is made using the performance capture technology which is widely used in Hollywood, but is a first for Indian cinema. Real actors are performing in here, not just with their body but with their face and expressing the required emotions which are captured and then used on the animated characters created using the technology!
This kind of technology has never been used before in India and full marks goes to Soundarya for thinking out of the box, thinking real big to bring latest technological innovations in Indian Cinema.
As expected, critics have their own say about the standard of technology, about the story, the script, the performances but real fans of Thalaiva, common people like you and me, do not care about critics. The movie has taken a stupendous opening, the biggest ever for any of Rajni’s movies and is being loved all across.
Yes, there is a lot left to be desired in terms of animation used but then, Rome was not built in a day. For people spending part of their hard-earned money to watch something different on the celluloid, they are definitely offered something different, something special which they can cherish for a long time to come.
To top the entertainment factor, Rajnikanth plays a double role, he also roped in the sexy lass from Bollywood, Deepika Padukone. This is her launch vehicle in Tamil cinema and nothing can get bigger or better than this. Looking at the length of her role, it seems she would have had to work really hard but it is surprising to know that she shot for only two days! It does speak a lot about her acting abilities as well as professionalism.
It is an out and out Rajni show, with his presence in almost every scene but then there cannot be any other way around. To watch one’s favorite star, idol, and actor, defy age and do everything that he/she wants to watch on screen is every fan’s ultimate desire. That’s what exactly has been done in the movie.
We wish more actors and producers take a leaf out of this movie and try to do something really different and offer something crazy, something wild, to satisfy our urges for some top of the line entertainment!
