Hasn’t The Akshay-Sonakshi Jodi Started To Look Very Boring?

The trailer of Holiday starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha is out. It looks like one of those films, which screams about jingoism at the top of its voice.

The trailer of Holiday starring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha is out.

It looks like one of those films, which screams about jingoism at the top of its voice. Just when people haven’t recovered from the abysmal fever Jai Ho gave us, here we have another ‘dare you question my patriotism’ kind of a flick.

Directed by A.R Murugadoss, the guy who made Ghajini, Holiday is a remake of hit South Indian film Thupakki. The film won rave reviews in the South. It is based on the concept of sleeper cells, which sounds super interesting. But that interest soon fades away into oblivion when you watch Akki dancing around in his three-fourths, an Army officer bouncing around excitedly like a teenager kid.

Apart from all that filminess, I also find Sonakshi and Akhsay as an onscreen couple very infuriating. Call it over familiarity or whatever, but haven’t they done too many movies together. Or maybe… wait… just a couple of them, such as Rowdy Rathore and Joker, but hey, they are not exactly magical like SRK and Kajol that we would like to see them in every film.

The caption of the movie says ‘A soldier is never off-duty’, which is the most and perhaps the only impressive part of the trailer. And, I would confess, I also like Sonakshi in her sporty avatar. She is seen packing punches, getting into the fighting mode in the boxing ring. She’s usually in her traditional ensembles, so this boxer gal-braided hair look was quite a breath of fresh air.

Since the movie revolves around sleeper cells, let me tell you what that is exactly. Sleeper cells are a bunch of people who are given special training in their home countries, after which they are assigned a different country/area, where these secret agents/people spend years with a fake identity, helping terrorist groups commit some serious crimes.

Let’s see if the film manages to garner the same BO numbers as Thupakki.

And, yes, you let us know if you like the trailer…
