Can Arjun Kapoor Play The Role Of Rahul Gandhi?

Arjun Kapoor recently expressed his desire to play a politician in his next. A biopic is something that has been running on his mind for quite a while now. Although he didn’t name any specific politician whose shoes he would love to step into, but looking at the status quo, Rahul Gandhi sounds like a good option.

Rahul is pretty much the trend right now, and his interview with Arnab Goswami continues to be the subject of ridicule. Arjun can highlight how the leader has managed to dodge questions about hot-button issues and parroted words like RTI and women empowerment, like a kid mugging up stuff for his exams.

I think the Kapoor kid should totally give it a shot, and give his quirky touch to the role. Arjun also said that he finds politics very interesting. Well, very rarely you hear actors saying this. In fact most of them are so ignorant of what’s even happening in the outside world. Take Arjun’s 2 States co-star Alia Bhatt for instance. When Karan Johar asked her on Koffee with Karan who the president of India is, she simply shot back a blank expression and muttered Prithviraj Chauhan.

Getting back to Arjun’s fascination of playing a politician, he should perhaps start getting into to the whole ‘research groove’ right away. It will be great fun watching Kapoor parodying Gandhi’s repetitive and ‘beating around the bush’ way of talking. Arjun also thinks that there are many facets to a politician’s personality, which will obviously make the character all the more interesting and layered.

The biopic trend seems to be spreading like wild fire. And hopping into the bandwagon is of course the Kapoor kid. I think he should give playing Rahul a serious thought and learn to flash those dimples with great charm. Because whenever he goes blank on screen, he can always display those dimples, just the way RG does when he has nothing to say…
