BJP vs AAP: It’s Kirron Kher Against Gul Panag In The Twitter World!

As the election heat reaches its peak, political parties are doing what it takes to be the frontrunners. While there’s a great deal of brouhaha and confusion over who to vote and who to show the exit, celebrity contestants Gul Panag and Kirron Kher seem to be busy slugging it out in the virtual world.

While Gul is an Aam Aadmi Party supporter and will contest the elections from Chandigarh, Kirron has been named as BJP’s candidate for the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat. Locking horns on Twitter, here’s how they directed slings and arrows at each other…

It was all started by Ms Panag when she took a direct dig at Kher’s age. She wrote, “Doubt if I’ll have the energy to run around like this and serve my people when I’ am 60. I guess that’s why there’s normally a retirement age.” Now obviously the BJP loyalist is not one of those who would take that kind of an insult lying down. “My father is 101 years old and still happening. He said good luck puttar, you have always been a winner. For me life starts at 60,” she retorted.

The reply seemed to have impressed the straight-forward Gul, she retweeted this one instantly, perhaps thinking that it’s time to nip this silly argument in the bud. But it didn’t exactly stop there. Kirron packed a verbal punch to Panag again by saying, “I may not be a marathon runner but I know slow and steady wins the race.”

Anupam Kher supported his wife at every step. He greeted her on Twitter and kept boosting her morale with his encouraging tweets. Kirron hasn’t just been dealing with Gul’s nasty statements, but also with abuses being hurled at her. Recently when she visited Chandigarh to announce her entry into the party, she was greeted with eggs and black flags were waved, protesting the decision to let her fight for the coveted seat. She was labeled as an outsider by a section of disgruntled BJP workers.

Well, things are definitely not hunky dory in the political world. Gul has done a film called Summer 2007 with Kirron Kher’s son Sikander in the not so recent past. Well, looks like the AAP gal didn’t feel the slightest hesitation to condescend her ‘once-upon-a-time’ colleague’s mother…
