The dramatic rise in the condom sales in Gujarat during the time of Navratri comes at the leg of young people being permitted to go out in the nights, booze in the car park, play court to the opposite sex and indulge in physical intimacy in an opportune moment. This has pushed the youth beyond edge and it is resulting in abhorring consequences. To our further astonishment, there is a visible rise of termination of pregnancies too in Gujarat. Of course, this is a tell-tale sign that some youth are still sexually unaware and the parents are facing the music.

The chemists in  Gujarat also approve that during last few consecutive Garba seasons, girls have walked up to the shops to buy condoms themselves. May be young people being absorbed in the festive mood is breaking the moral barriers, they say.
