We Indians are weird and truly crazy!

Well, if not all, some of us definitely fall in that category and we haven’t stopped from keeping our insane mindsets within the boundaries of our country, but proudly exhibit them abroad in the countries that adopt us or where we immigrate for greener pastures.

The case in point this time is the latest candidate to file his nomination for the most powerful job on the planet, to be America’s next President: Piyush “Bobby” Jindal!

Did you notice the irony?

His name is Piyush, but he is known in the entire world as Senator Bobby Jindal!

Well, aren’t we all Indians known to have weird nick names like Happy, Lucky, Bobby, Bunty, Chickoo, Pinky, Lovely etc? So this gentleman who decided to use his nickname as his primary name to be counted as an equal amongst the American population and achieved quite a success out of it, is now taking a step further by declaring that he is not Indian anymore, but more like an American!

Yes, he recently made a statement that it is high time people stopped calling themselves as American-Indian or Indian American, African-American, Irish-American etc. and everyone, who is a legitimate citizen of America should be called as American! So much for equality when you’re running for the post of President with a name that has the stamp of a typical Indian all over it!

Wow, Mr. Jindal, has your skin suddenly turned white from the brown texture you were born with? Or you have suddenly got the facial features altered with some cosmetic surgery? Obviously the way you speak English with that typical American accent has already put Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan in deep depression, but that discussion is for some other time!

Politicians all over the world are known to be thick-skinned creatures that can’t be trusted or taken seriously; Mr. Jindal here is going all out to entice the American voter that he is one amongst them and should be given a chance! However, his fellow citizens from the same country, that is India, haven’t taken it lightly the way he is trying to disassociate himself from the country of his origin and trying to appear a “Gora”!

Let’s share with you some of the tweets which went viral after his statement. By the way, he suddenly started trending on Twitter with the title, “#BobbyJindalisSoWhite”!

A user by the name of Pavan tweeted, “#BobbyJindalisSoWhite that he uses Mr. white detergent powder to wash his white cloths.”

Another user Priti said, “#BobbyJindalisSoWhite he calls every Indian food ‘curry’!” If that was not enough more people joined in ridiculing him!

A well known Indian comedian in the USA, Hari Kondabolu tweeted, “#BobbyJindalisSoWhite that he calls his parents by their first name”!

A tweet by Rahul Sharma takes the cake as he said, “#BobbyJindalisSoWhite# Jindian He eats his Chapati with a knife and fork”!

Joining the tirade was Suleikha Snyder who tweeted, “#BobbyJindalisSoWhite that Fair & Lovely is made from his tears”!

The list goes on and on, but the core of the matter is that if Mr. Jindal is not proud of his ancestry and the country of his origin and he really thinks that being from India is an obstacle then he should first undergo complete plastic surgery to turn his skin into white, alter his features to look like one of ‘them’ and then try his hand at the top post in the world! As such, with biggies like Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush in the fray, Mr. Jindal doesn’t seem to be having that many chances of succeeding this time around. May be he can try after 8 years! By then he would be completely “gora” and people would have forgotten his stupid thought process and may give him a chance!

Bobby puttar, “brown” bread is good for health, but “white” bread is not! “Brown” works and will work, remember that!

America is undergoing a sea change in their sensibilities as a nation.

After decades of rule by the white-skinned leaders, the country gave a chance to first Black President, Barack Obama in 2008 and then re-elected him in 2012 for another four years!

How his rule changed America is a matter of debate, but in the next elections, a prominent candidate is going to be Hillary Clinton and as of today, the country seems inclined to embrace her as the first female president.

Given such positive and flexible changes in the mindsets of the average American voter, why can’t we expand our horizons and imagine an Indian American occupying the top post? If a country where black people worked as slaves for centuries can make a black person its president, there is definitely a possibility of an Indian having an equal opportunity. As a race, we have already proved that we are hard-working, well educated, responsible and peace-loving people. Indians are contributing significantly to the country’s political, economic and social capital. The country’s 19^th Surgeon General is an Indian, Dr. Vivek Murthy!

A Lot of politicians have won and re-won their elections with the likes of Bobby Jindal, Manan Trivedi, Kamala Harris, Nikki Haley regularly hogging the limelight for their precious contribution to social life.

The list is way too long if we include Indians involved in various other sectors like IT, business, entertainment, law etc.

Even if we are a mere 1% of the entire population of America, we are still one of the highest educated ethnic groups with the highest per capital income and become a major source of funding for both Democrats and Republicans! It is no mean task given that despite being second to people of Chinese descent, we command more respect from average Americans.

The factor which can work in our favour against the Chinese is the mutual distrust between the two countries. Hence the average American may find it bit difficult to let a Chinese become their President. Apart from that, no other race is as strong, well connected, well established and so very well integrated with the American life as ours! It becomes easier to run for the top post when you are considered a part of the culture and society rather than just being termed as an outsider or an immigrant.

May be 2016 is too early for an Indian to run for the presidency, but the day probably doesn’t look too far when we might read the headlines: An Indian American becomes the President of the USA!

America is a land of equal opportunities!

Let’s hope someone amongst us gets an opportunity to serve the world’s superpower!
