1.  We all love his cricket and have also seen him in number of TV commercials but it would be a sheer delight to watch him act in a movie.

2.  We thought he would do so in the movie which was partly based on his own car ‘Ferrari’ but no he didn’t. Even after Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s frequent requests, Sachin turned down the offer.

3.  A lot of movies have been made in the past and some real life cricketers have also been a part of those movies like Sunil Gavaskar appeared as himself in the movie “Malamaal” and Kapil Dev in the movie ‘Iqbal’. Even Anil Kumble too made a brief appearance in the movie “Mirabai – Not Out”.

4.  In the movie ‘Muhjse Shaadi Karogi’ half of the Indian cricket team appeared in the climax. Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Mohammed Kaif, Ashish Nehra, Parthiv Patel and Javagal Srinath they all were seen cheering Salman Khan along with the cricketer and maverick commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu.

5.  Sachin Tendulkar himself also appeared along with Rahul Dravid, Zaheer Khan, Ravi Shastri and Yuvraj Singh in Raveena Tandon’s film ‘Stumped’. They collectively sent a message across in the film that they are not heroes but the soldiers fighting the war are the real heroes

No matter how much we abuse the film industry and find flaws in the Hindi movies, Bollywood continues to rule despite the criticism. At times some films may be completely nonsensical or there are several cases of plagiarism in our films.

Bollywood however continues to enjoy audiences not only in India but also abroad. With audiences and popularity overseas Bollywood is the hub of employment opportunities for foreigners.

For example Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s debut in the Hindi film industry with the movie ‘Khoobsurat’.

He was still a popular figure before his stint at Bollywood. He had gained critical acclaim for his performance in ‘Khuda Ke Liye’.

Later he also became the heartthrob of many girls after his TV series appearances.

Katrina Kaif on the other hand was spotted by Kaizad Gustad at a show in London. She was a fashion model who got spotted for a film that had big star cast like Amitabh Bachchan, Jackie Shroff, etc.

The film named ‘Boom’ however was a flop but she had her first step in the industry.

On the other hand we have actresses who really work hard and are much talented but struggle to find a place in the industry.

For example Yami Gautam who made appearances in serials and a Kannada movie Ullasa Utsaha before getting her breakthrough with ‘Vicky Donor’. No wonder her acting was very well received and she gained lot of recognition.

There is no harm in promoting and hiring talents from outside India but the problem arises when we fail to see and give the break to the deserving people from our own country.

A person who aspires to be an actor in this country goes through lot of struggles and hardships. Sharib Hashmi (born in Mumbai) had depicted the role of a struggling, aspiring actor in the film ‘Filmistaan’ that received very high critical acclaim.

He himself started his career as an assistant director in films and then writing for shows in order to one day make his way into this industry.
