Only if you love yourself doesn't mean you are a narcissist. Loving oneself is wat everyone should do. We are getting too extreme in our analysis. I mean who is not alone at times. Being among people does not state we all have right kind of bonding. So it is about how to handle your world without hurting self. Being narcissistic or considerate are just mental state. Also every growth is at the expense of someone, at least you will be clear in conscience. So, idea is yes less damage to others, but least to self.

If you've been through experiences that have taught you this 'interesting' lesson, or if you have clearly learnt this from the misery of others, then i'm afraid life left you a book to read and you contented yourself with just finishing a few chapters and offering your conclusions on such matters!
See, i'm the type to prefer writing 'i' instead of 'I', even though it is gramatically incorrect, because this is a modern, much more aware world, and i get to be myself. Even in writing. So i suppose you can be yourself too and write whatever the hell you feel like. But please don't advertise it like a necessary therapy for pain and prescription for finding happiness.
Maybe you're hurt badly. Or maybe you're not very smart after all. Because in a world where the most interesting and extraordinary things are the various human minds, thinking and perceiving, your narcissistic one will probably end up never revelling in the beauty of any other mind!
You who have decided to steer clear of the world's reality that despite getting hurt, only goodness heals at a level which narcissistic devices of escaping into a false sense of security cannot possibly reach...you who have painted your own picture of 'healthy living'....have much to realise and accept.
And yet, as per the obviously applicable law of averages in life, you will probably realise at some point that the one who shields him/herself from pain by ignoring others is also saved by one such 'good slave' like those who still work for others, inspite of getting nothing in return...because they actually do get something, that heals them slowly:
they find that someone, because of them, actually might survive and continue to matter in this world.
So indeed save yourself this way, my dear, for you will need to wait for a future meet with one who is your opposite and willing to help you honestly, you who would prefer saving no one...
Be a narcissist my dear. I wont hate you. But i do wholeheartily pity you.
And i shall pray for you. Atleast once. For that is what we 'slaves' do when we meet less fortunate ones like you. And if you manage a smile in your darkest times, remember that it might possibly be because of some poor slave's prayer and/or effort, wholly and solely for your sake.
Cheers.

You seem so positive about being a narcissist maybe you too are then...if yes then there is no benefit in telling you that how senseless and stupid this article sounds...(no offence to your love for yourself) but this is what happens to a narcissist people stop caring about such beings and at a point ignore them eventually they end up alone but how would it matter to you, you just love yourself so clearly family, friends and society won't mean anything to you so voila!!! You got what you want stay aloof for the rest of your life...but then really do you need such a life? Appreciating and loving yourself isn't bad but anything in excess is just poison...such attributes might be giving you some temporary benefit but is basically spoiling your life for long-term results. Rest is your life whichsoever you'd like to live it shall be your choice completely.

I have some serious issues with your article. I am sorry. I don't want to sound mean or rude. But it is senseless. I am mentioning the lines I strongly object to.
1. While nice people slave themselves for the whole life, narcissists always stay above the rest..... Nice people slave themselves away? Waaht? Is this a generalization? Everybody is "slaving" themselves away. There isn't a division of narcissism at work.
Narcissists stay above the rest.. Bosses, managers, CEOs are above the rest.. Are all leaders narcissists as well? I mean, can we add Modi, Obama to this list? Gandhi? Being a narcissist doesn't make anyone a leader. Their abilities do. Please don't make brats sound like saints.
2. This makes them a great leader because they only listen to themselves and follow their instinct.. Okay so this eliminates the whole concept of being a team player and listening to others. Just be a dictator. Mind you, not all instincts are right. Take Hitler for example, he only listened to himself, right? Look where it got him I don't know whether or not he was a narcissist.
Being a narcissist doesn't make anyone smart. It makes people insecure and sometimes unstable. It makes them feel that they are flawless, which is so not the case. And then the scorn they face isn't easy either.
3.Being a narcissist doesn't make you a leader. It makes you self centred. Obsession with self or others isn't always healthy.
4. No, because in this competitive world, there’s no space for emphatic (what) people. Wherever you will go and whatever selfless deeds you will do for others, you will not get any benefit.
What the hell? Now we need to look for benefits in selfless deeds? Then according to this theory, people like Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates have no space in this world for they have pledged nearly all of their fortunes for "selfless deeds" a k.a charity and free education initiatives.
4. While some people are too much into others’ life, narcissists only care about themselves. They don’t care what’s going around them until and unless it affects them... We all have seen videos of people who stand around a dying person but never taking them to hospitals. Now we know the reason, don't we? The people who only care about themselves are lonely. Period.
5. Also, narcissists tend to get hurt much less in this mean world.
Well. Theoretically, they too have feelings and get hurt as usually as "nice slave people" do. In fact, it must be harder for them, living in a world where nobody seems to understand them.
I am distraught by the fact that this is what is being sold out to us youngsters at this website. Instead of encouraging us to be better people and to be more empathetic, posts like these pop up once in a while making us doubt the logic behind them. Are you telling us all to be selfish and narcissistic?? Or justifying why one should be so?
Once again, I'd like to stress that I don't want to sound mean. These are just my issues with the article
PS- there is a difference between "self-love"/self acceptance and "narcissism". Please don't confuse the two.

I can't agree more how precise the title is . How Narcissim is good for us . But , it's NOT something the world requires, it's something we do.

We , once hurt , close ourselves from the world , become self-loving , become independent , become callous. Yes that is necessary in today's world . But it's only a necessary evil .

There is huge difference between a narcissist and a leader. A leader cares for his people , thinks for everybody , works for everybody. Leaders work & think in the line of Duty to their fellow people and not about the power and authority that comes with the position .

I do have an understanding of how the picture i painted about a Leader is so idealistic & how naive i am to do so.
This realisation comes from the mutual understanding of how Narcissism props up in a person undergoing various hardships in their life. How it helps them stay afloat in a sea , when land seems like a mirage. But philanthropism is the strength that keeps you going , makes you see the light at the end of the tunnel. It heals the hurt & sets you on a greater path . So can't we be someone who loves everybody , INCLUDING him/her-self ? Try helping somebody and see how it makes your day :-)
God bless everyone !!!!
