Shapewear actually works!
Despite the negative reactions to this piece of clothing, the shapewear actually works! It balances out your body and evenly spreads out all the fat. It’s a good idea to invest in a skin-friendly shapewear and sport it under your outfits. Make sure that it gives you space to breathe so that your skin doesn’t burn or break out into rashes. It’s better to go for cotton ones as they will not harm your skin at all. While the main component is latex, there are cotton-coated ones available in the market.
What you should keep in mind while shopping for clothes is that they have clever cuts so that they camouflage your bulk. Go for dark panelling on the side to narrow your frame, go for fine prints than bigger and chunkier designs, colour-blocked clothes so that your weight is evenly distributed. Remember, you have to create an illusion of a thin frame by using strategically placed designs and prints.
Straight cut pants and skirts:
While choosing a pair of pants or skirt, go for straight cut ones that fall exactly at your ankle or a couple of inches below. When you pair them with a pair of dark coloured heels, your legs will long longer and toned, giving off the ‘thin’ vibe. Even when choosing your trousers, go for those that have no pleating and are slightly tapered at the leg. You should stick to black, navy and dark brown as they colours will hide your bulk. While opting for skirts, go for knee-length pencil skirt that fall just above your knees and A-line skirts in dark shades.
Black and black:
You probably know this oldest trick in the books of wearing an all black outfit. It not only makes you look slimmer, but also makes you a lot sexier than you are! You can wear dark browns, navy blues and even maroons to get this slim look. Even if you’re unable to get the black and black outfit right, go for a pair of black tights with your coloured top and your legs will look slimmer, longer and sexier. And if you don’t have tights either, go for black stockings that stick to your skin.
High –waisted pants
The best way into tricking the eyes into believing that you’re thin is by opting for high-waisted pants. They will make your lower body look longer and well toned. You could go for pants in vertical prints as they will make your legs look longer, hence your body will appear thinner. If you’re top heavy, wear a high-waisted jumpsuit instead of pants as the jumpie will make your top look proportional to your lower body.
