ICC 2007 T20 WC, Durban

In the inaugural T20 World Cup held in South Africa, Australia went in as favourites against a young India in the second semi-final at Durban. Batting first, Indian batsmen put up a sparkling show with fireworks provided by Yuvraj Singh as they put a huge total of 188. In reply, the Aussies started off well but fell short by just 15 runs that saw them exiting the tourney on a low.

Australia tour of India, 2007, Mumbai

After their victorious ODI campaign, the Aussies played a one-off T20 against the then-reigning champions India at Mumbai’s Brabourne stadium. Batting first, Ponting-led Australia put up a defending total of 166 on board. India, in reply, lost Virender Sehwag early but Gautam Gambhir and later Yuvraj ensured that there were no hiccups as India coasted to a well deserved win.

A drastic batting collapse saw the Indian team get out on their lowest score in T20s (74), thanks to an Aussie pace attack,  led by Brett Lee and Nathan Bracken. Australia coasted to an easy victory that saw them chase the total in mere 11.2 overs.

After losing the first T20 game to the hosts, Dhoni-led India came back comprehensively in the 2nd T20 game. The visitors were brilliant with the ball and in the field that restricted Australia to 131. India went onto win the game with 8 wickets in hand. With the star with bat being Gautam Gambhir who top scored with 56.
