How we wish wearing an itsy-bitsy blouse and a lehenga with a thigh-high slit on screen or resorting to rapid pelvic thrusts would be the main criteria for declaring an item song a hit. But that’s clearly not the case. There needs to be a certain foot-tapping quality about it, the typical rustic aura that sets it apart from other item tracks in the Bollywood herd. There was something about Sheila, Munni and Chikni Chameli which struck a chord with the filmi kidaas.
