Sulemani Keeda Review – Trailer looks amazing but would the film overall be able to strike the funny nerve is something I am eagerly waiting to watch.

The name itself is giving a picture of the amount of comedy one can expect in this film. Sulemani Keeda is a slang in Hindi that means (let me translate in a slang way only) ‘pain in the a**’. So ya the kind of person we can equate to being a pest.

The trailer is so funny. You can see the reviews of the whos who from the industry about this movie. Even ‘The Hollywood Reporter’ called it ‘witty, young, urban comedy’.

The striking part that I am really looking forward to is the chemistry between the two male leads. Their conversation immediately strikes a chord and will leave you in splits.

Naveen Kasturia and Mayank Tewari play the lead roles, Dulal and Mainak respectively. They are partners in writing and fooling around girls. Oh yes and don’t miss those love guru advices.

We all have such unique characters in our lives.

The dialogues in this trailer will make you go totally roflmaoing.

Don’t miss this line:

Gaanja maango gey coke denge

Rishwat maango gey thok denge

He then happily chants ‘anti-corruption’.

weed-gaanja-smoking

The music score is by Arfaaz-Anurag.

This film was shown in the Mumbai Film Festival in 2013. For people like me who missed this film do watch it today.

The genre of comedy in India is not very explored to the core. The genre also ranges as per the different kind of target audience.

In India we would have those Sec A and B who would love the comedy shown in ‘Friends’ but on the other hand we also have TV shows like ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ulta Chashma’ being a mass favourite.

The concept of comedy also differs with the language barrier. Language, culture with respect to urban class or rural class, situations, typical masala, etc. are various factors that divide the audience in our country preferring comedy as a genre. In comedy itself we have combinations of romantic comedy and tragic comedy.

The language problem is very well tackled in this film keeping the main theme in Hindi and subtitles in English.

Although the film caters to the urban class, it doesn’t really restrict its audience.

The phrases used and the dialogues are typically catering to the Hindi speaking janta. So basically even if it is urban comedy, there is no audience specifically targeted and anyone can relate to this film.
