Abhishek Bachchan Reduced To Just A Character Artist? Career Downfall For Big B’s Son?

Abhishek Bachchan is becoming more of a character actor than a hero. He is being seen as team member in most of the films Can his career as a leading man be saved or?

Abhishek Bachchan is a character actor now!

It is a fact or what else can explain his recent choice of roles in big-banner films?

Recently released trailer of the potentially biggie-of-the-year, Happy New Year shows Abhishek sharing screen space with King of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan! He seems to be part of the team which is clearly led by Shahrukh.

Prior to this, he was seen with another BIG superstar Aamir Khan in Dhoom 3. Now, of course Dhoom series started with Abhishek and he is considered to be the hero of the film, but the latest installment became the biggest grossing movie ever only due to Aamir and no one else!

Then there was Bol Bachchan with Ajay Devgn and the list goes on! That surely puts Abhi in the category of character actors who only support the biggies and are not the leading heroes themselves. Tch Tch!

Well, it is a fact that son of the great living legend of cinema, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhi did start his career as a solo-hero in Refugee all those years back. However, he hasn’t been able to shoulder the responsibility of an entire movie and make it run on box-office entirely based on his charms and acting talent just like his dad.  Wait, did I just say acting talent! Oops, this must be a mistake as he hasn’t shown any hints of any acting talents till date except for a few movies where some maverick directors pulled their hair out to make him act!

Yeah, am talking about Mani Ratnam who made him look presentable in movies like Yuva and Guru and Ram Gopal Verma for his Sarkar! Poor guys!!

Now guys, I don’t want to be harsh on him and bring out the same facts that it must be difficult for him to come out of his megastar dad, Amitabh Bachchan’s shadow and how it must be so very difficult to meet the expectations of being the husband of most beautiful woman on the planet, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan!

But what options do I have?

I can consider those as excuses if he was new, but he is now almost a veteran in the industry. Guys half his age have stormed the industry and are proving their mettle in movie after movie.

And here is our Bollywood’s own pappu, still dependent on his family legacy to get work!

How sad!!

In a way it’s good that he is accepting his limited acting potential and getting on to play character roles. For the audience, it will be less traumatic to see an entire movie with him instead of watching him in just a few scenes, make us laugh or cry or whatever and then walk away!

Some hard truths have to be accepted the way they are. Glad Abhi has accepted them and embracing them too. Good for him and for us as well!

Wishing him a great new innings in a new career path!

Good luck!
