Now that ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar has decided to retiring after playing his 200th test, ‘number 4’ slot in the Indian test team’s batting order will remain vacant. We throw up some options that could take over that position:

Virender Sehwag:
Even though he is not in the side any longer, Virender Sehwag is trying his best in the domestic arena. If he does return to form, the best Viru could do is slot at the number four position and avoid getting out early.

Rohit Sharma
With the ODI form taking a steep rise, it won’t be too long when the selectors will give a chance to Rohit Sharma in tests. The 26-year old  still has to make his test bow and what a moment it could be for Sharma if he happens to replace the legend from his own city, Mumbai!

Yuvraj Singh
The southpaw will have to play out of his skin if he does stand a chance to get selected in the tests. Yuvraj Singh, who has played 40 tests and scored 1900 runs, still has the flair and skill to be a 5-day player.

Gautam Gambhir
When he is not opening, Delhi lad Gautam Gambhir makes a handy batsman in the middle order. He recently scored a ton against the visiting West Indies A and made a point to the selectors that he is not going to give up that easily.
