Preparation time: 15 mins
Serves: 5

What you need?
Boiled Rajma- 1.5 cup
Tomato ketchup: to serve
Boiled potato: 3-4
Bread slice: 1
Oil/butter: to fry
Salt: to taste
Chopped green chilies: to taste Grated ginger:1 tsp
Fresh coriander: Chop it to about 2 tbsp
Garam masala-1/2 tsp
Chili powder- 1 tsp
Lemon juice-1.5 tsp
Hung curd- 2 tsp
Cumin seeds- 1tsp
Maida: 3 tbsp
Bread crumbs- 3/4 cup

How to make?
Grind the boiled rajma into a coarse mixture and peel the potatoes and set aside. Now, add oil to warm pan, before chucking cumin seeds and green chillies into the pan.

Once the cumin seeds start crackling, add the crushed rajma and sauté it for just under a minute. Till the coarseness has settled down. Now, add the mashed potatoes, ginger, salt and chilli powder to this and sauté the mixture well.

Take this mixture out in a bowl and let it cool for a bit. Till then, soak the bread slices in water and squeeze the excess out. Add the crushed bread slices to the kidney beans and potato preparation. Now, add all the remaining ingredients to this and mix it well.

Roll the mixture into a workable dough and make tiny pattices out of them. Once the tikki is ready, dip it in a slury of flour, before rolling them on a thin layer of bread crumbs. These crumbs will add crunchiness to the preparation, while flour will help in deep frying.

After rolling them in maida, deep fry the Tikkis and serve these hot with ketchup or chutney. Don’t forget to remove the excess oil on tissues, before serving. You can replace the potato with other healthy dals and even peas to make a colourful preparation. Try it out this Sunday and let is know how it tastes!
The next time your mommy makes rajma, ask her to skip the conventional curry and masala and opt for this delicious dish instead. It will be sure shot hit with kids and make them fall in love kidney beans and other healthy stuff too. Have a yummy brunch.
