Foods that one can eat during Navratri fast – Navratri is just round the corner for people who don’t know much about Navratri it is a Hindu festival of 9 days dedicated to Goddess Durga and her nine avatars, each avatar is worshipped each day. These days are very auspicious and people wake early and do pooja and also fast for 9 days.

Few people strictly follow fruits diet while others eat 1 time meal and fast. While few others give up flours and grains (anaj) completely and eat only foods that don’t come under category of anaj.  Like sainghare ka atta, kuttu ka atta, samai ke chawal, Rajgira ka atta, sabudana etc are used as alternatives to wheat flour, rice, etc.

Few people actually don’t know what to eat during Navratri, so here is a list of few yummy foods you can make and eat during Navratri fasting.

Foods that one can eat during Navratri fast –

  1. Sabudana khicdi: Made with Tapioca pearls with peanuts and potatoes, this tastes yummy
  2. Vrat kae Aloo: Crumbled boiled potatoes, in which pink salt green chilies and lemon juice added serves as snack.
  3. Dahi Aloo chat: Like you make papdi dahi chat, replace papdi with potatoes chips add boiled potatoes, green chutney and sweet chutney and enjoy.
  4. Sabudana vada: Deep fried added sabudana, potatoes, green chilies, lemon, salt groundnuts this tastes yum.
  5. Rajgira parantha: Made with Rajgira flour.
  6. Sabudana thalipeeth: these are pancakes made with sabudana, boiled potatoes, peanuts and spices.
  7. Aloo tamatar sabji: this is tangy curry you can add oil, cumin, tomatoes, pink salt green chilies, and boiled potatoes.
  8. Aloo chat: This is yummy you need boiled potatoes, green chutney and tamarind chutney.
  9. Samvat pulav: this is made from vrat rice called as barnyard millet.
  10. Kuttu parantha: Like ordinary parantha but instead of wheat flour kuttu flour is used.
  11. Sabudna kheer: Replace rice with sabudana and enjoy kheer.
  12. Gajar ka halwa: You can eat this yummy desert during navratri fast.
  13. Fruit juices: You can drink fresh fruits juices all fruit juices can be drinked in fast
  14. Sabudana Bhel: for this you need boiled potatoes, dry fruits, and sabudana
  15. Fruit chat: You can make fruit chat by adding different fruits you can add honey and whipped cream.
  16. Potato finger chips: we all love them don’t we? So, you can make them at home and enjoy.
  17. Paneer kofta: these tastes very good, you need paneer, sinnghare ka atta, kuttu ka atta.
  18. Jeera aloo: You can eat this in evening you need potatoes, jeera, lemon, rock salt and coriander.
  19. Rajgira puri: You can make puri with Rajgira atta and enjoy with vrat ke aloo this way you can satisfy hunger.
  20. Apart from these you can drink homemade milk shakes with fresh cream, or dry fruit milk shakes, banana milk shakes, etc.

There are the foods that one can eat during Navratri fast, so go ahead do pooja, keep fast but don’t starve make yummy food and enjoy!
