You are used to watching Salman Khan in roles which has earned him the title of “Bhai” nationwide. Salman Khan’s films still gross millions at the box office. Tubelight is set to become another such film which will not only gross millions at the box office but also touch the hearts and earn critical acclaim.

The story is about Laxman (Salman Khan) who is very close to his brother Bharat (Sohail Khan). Laxman is lovingly called Tubelight by the people in his neighborhood. We can all guess why he is called Tubelight, because of his innocent nature which does not allow him to understand the complications of daily life. The movie initially starts with an environment of fun and frolic where Laxman and Bharat are seen to be really close and co-dependent on each other.

Though Salman plays the role well, one thing that really bugs us is that someone so well built and well-toned is playing such a child-like role. It takes some time for us to get used to the fact. Thelittle child, however, give a flat-out awesome performance.

There are many comical moments where we see exactly how simple and innocent Laxman or Tubelight really is. However, the whole happy-go-lucky atmosphere in the film takes a sad turn when Bharat, like any other man, posted at the Border for the defense of the country, goes away on duty and does not come back. That’s when we get to know the life story of Laxman, story of how he sets out to look for his brother and what tragic or ugly turns his life takes.

This is where Late Om Puri comes in as Matin Rey Tangu (Laxman’s Uncle) and he is all the more adorable where he takes care of the vulnerable Laxman. The film is set against the Indo-China war of 1962 and we get to see how an adorable Tubelight gradually emerges out as a self-dependent man. The film is also rumored to have been inspired from the Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks.

It is set to hit the theatres on June 23. So will you be lining up in front of the box office of the nearest multiplex for Tubelight?
