What Do “Two Paths” Respectively Mention In Spiritual Tradition?

Hinduism has its divine way to describe the paths toward spirituality. According to Bhagawad Gita, it defines “two paths” that can give focus to the leading life of people. It describes choosing anyone to follow as it ensures to live to the fullest. The paths are the family life and the life of a monk. The directions of both are different and do not allow to overlap or blend with each other.

Two paths and their importance in mankind

Family life is known that involves in the development of mankind and society. It has the spiritual value to improve society with the influence of knowledge, wisdom, and dedication. They are inclined towards their family as married aiming to guide the upcoming generation. The sacrifice and dedication have been a primary need. The principles for a family life include following the duties and responsibilities of the present, earlier, and the new generation.

Choosing the life of a householder is not bounded to home but it includes the duties towards the society. Marriages mean a commitment toward the partners that have to be maintained with honesty and passion throughout life. Man entering into the so-called “Grihastha” needs to understand the complexities of relationships and pursue them intelligently. A failure in their responsibilities will cause a decline in the growth in terms of culture, education, and spirituality.

Hereby, the delay or incapable of providing education to the kid’s, fathers will hamper the growth of society it will affect the upcoming generations. The man being the head of the family is responsible to manage the pranic healing forces. Hinduism describes the “Grihastha” as the most complicated and responsible dharma, that a person should be aware of before entering or choosing the path. The balance between the female and male energy is essential to give positive energy to the kids.

Renunciation or the life of a monk

Choosing from the “two paths” of the Hindu spirituality has been another essential path that leads to the life of a monk. It is known as “Sanyasa, the life a person leads in which they have to give up their family and move towards serving the community and the Lord. In Hinduism, the path is attained through meditation and devotion, which helps develop deeper realizations of spiritual living.

They are far away from the thoughts of marriages and kids. As they do not have any interest in materialistic features. Sanyasa allows following the path of devotion towards the Sanatana Dharma.

Those who live for the Sanatana Dharma can be divided further into two as per their strength and realization.

  • Those who choose to live as Sadhus are isolated in the caves. They prefer to stay away from the societies wandering in forests and temples as pilgrims.
  • The other monks choose to live in Ashramas, Matha, and Adheenam. Partially they work for the society by spreading religious knowledge. They are guided by their Guruji to serve the purpose of Sanatana Dharma.

Both the Sanyasa and Grihastha life have their own importance. As “two paths” need to accept responsibilities as they grow as an adult.
