When Will The Government Wake Up To Ban Meow Meow?

India is a country having highest youth population in the world.

The youth of India is the one upon who everyone looks with a lot of hope and aspirations. But unfortunately, the youth of India is in a deep hole due to the alarming rate of drug abuse cases among the youth. Drug abuse is harshly taking its toll in India especially on people of the age group 15-25.

According to the WHO reports, half of the abusers are below 25 years of age, especially the teens.

Youth and adolescence is the age when you are filled with all kinds of anxieties. With an urge to experiment new things, they end up indulging in such wrong habits which at a given point in time can even end people’s life on a very bad note!

The Narcotics Control Bureau of India is the main organisation of the country which is responsible for the fighting against the drug abuse and the illegal substances. According to the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) Act of 1985, all kinds of dangerous drugs are banned by the government and its use is illegal.

But surprisingly, the government has not included one of the very dangerous drugs into the list and i.e. Mephedrone.

Mephedrone or commonly known as Meow Meow among people is a drug which is quite similar to cocaine. It looks like cocaine and has similar side effects as that of cocaine. Some other common names of Meow Meow are M-cat and Meph. The drug has gone very popular among the youngsters and the party goers of the country. Alone in Mumbai, there are 80% of people below the age of 25 who are addicted to this drug.

The main reason behind its popularity is that, this drug costs very less as compared to cocaine, legal in the country and very easily available. You can easily order it online. This is now turning to be the main reason that is causing havoc in young lives of India.

The drug is highly addictive and can be snorted like cocaine or swallowed. Many youngsters who were once addicted to this drug agree to the fact that it was the worst phase of life when they started getting high on this drug. The side effect of this drug is horrific and can cause headache, anxiety, loss of appetite etc.

The police are believed to be soon writing to the Narcotics Department in this regard. The police force has also become vulnerable as the drug is not illegal. For the time being, The Food and Drug Administration Cells have been authorized to take actions in such cases.

According to many people who got caught into the web of this vulnerable drug have expressed that it takes a toll on your brains and its side-effects can even lead to death. Many abusers have even accepted that they got into wrongdoings such as thefts and robbery which destroyed their life to a very large extent under the influence of this drug.

So, the whole point of writing this post is to urge the system for banning such a drug due to which the future of the country is at stake!
