An old saying goes – “We have three types of friends in life; friends for a reason, friends for a season, and friends for a lifetime”
Well, no doubt today, friendships are changing and so are people involved in those friendships. We are in the times of social media camaraderie when bonds can be as frivolous as soap bubbles.
Yet, it may not be difficult at all to identify true to heart friendships which will never fade, no matter how bad a face you might put up sometimes, or how grisly a person become, given the circumstances. Some friends will remain by your side, because they befriended the person in you and not your circumstantial behaviours.
Here, I am going to try and help you to identify 8 kinds of friends who will always be your Real Friends and you must never doubt their friendship.
In the increasing world of gossiping and backbiting, when the spice of life is found in shaming and defaming people for no reasons at all, if you find a friend who makes you feel secure when with you and never back-bites or gossips you behind your back, is for the keeps. Also, If someone else slings your name in mud behind your back, they wouldn’t shy away from bashing that person right, left and centre. Do not ever doubt their friendship even if they might sometimes be harsh with you.
There are times when you have other priorities, more important than spending time with friends. Your real friends will understand your precedence and never make you feel horrible for not being able to give time to them. You can go extended stretches of weeks or months without connecting and hanging out consistently, yet there’s no doubts about the bond. Schedules get busy, circumstances arise, but your friendship remains fully intact. They will not distance themselves for this reason. You can always go back to them and celebrate your friendship when you have handled the things that needed your attention.
When you enter their house, you are comfortable enough to raid their fridge or ask them to fix you a sandwich, and they would do it for you gladly. You are never wary of using their bathroom and they are more than happy to offer you their clothes. You’ve probably borrowed each other’s stuff that normal acquaintances probably wouldn’t share. Cars, spare rooms, expensive electronics, etc. Basically, what I am trying to say is, the friends who would love to share their life with you, without making a big deal out of it, are the friends who will never fail your trust.
Ha Ha! No not literally may be, but what I am meaning here is that there are some friends who will never miss your call deliberately and pretend to be busy. They will always be available for you. No matter you call them in the hours between 2-6 a.m., when you were dead drunk and blabbering gibberish making no sense at all. They would still be prepared to attend to your emergency, and meet you at that hour. They will be the first ones to offer a ride from the airport even in the wee hours. Trust me on that. Never doubt them!
Whatever you post on social media, gets a like or a comment from them, because they love you and love what you do. Well, it may sound stupid, but in this day and age, you can’t leave a pal’s post response less, if you really mean a good friendship with them. They will make their presence felt on your page, no matter it is 48th silly looking picture of your pup, or your 5th selfie for the day! They exactly know how it feels to have a like or a comment form a friend, hence they never devoid you of that happiness. And guess what, they would never post and tag you in a photo where you know you are looking horrible (and they know it too) with a fat face, or may be eyes closed, or may be messy hair, just so to get the sadistic pleasure out of showing the real you to the world, in a bad candid snapshot. Especially when they know that they are looking better than you in the picture. Talking of social media protocol, I wouldn’t miss on the point, that truest of the friends are whose birthdays and other vital happenings of life, or who they were with last night, will not be dependent on your social media connection with them. You would have all the vital info all by itself and not through social platforms.
There are friends who sincerely feel happy when you succeed in your ventures, or buy a new car, or get promoted. They wouldn’t flaunt a lying-through-my-teeth fake smile and throw out a bogus cheer. Their excitement is evidently real, and they celebrate your success like their own. They would even go around the world, singing praises of you and your successful feat. They are also the ones who would never announce your shortcomings to the world, in the times when you are not your best. They are the ones who are always a part of your success and smiles.
With so many relationships that we share with so many people in life, it sometimes becomes difficult to accommodate all in rejoicing and celebrating moments. But, if you have a real friend, they will always include your name in all the get-togethers and celebrations, no matter how unlikely it is that you can make it for the occasion. And you would do the same for them too. Because, it goes without saying that the merry times at both the ends are incomplete without each other. That’s what is called a real friendship which cannot be shared with everyone.
They are the ones who believe in you, more than you do. You may feel defeated and dejected, but they will make all the possible efforts to put back the fire in you. They will not let you give up, be it romantic liaisons, gone-bad-relationships, professional problems or personal issues at home. They are your best motivators, boosting you up with smiles, good food, jokes, late night talks and movies together. You can always rely on them to have a shoulder when you need.
