Having Social Media Presence Is Like Having A Spy Agent In Our Lives

You remember those days when love birds used to exchange hand written letters? Love was supposed to be a secretive affair then, literally! With the world opening up to expressions and emotions the feeling of love has started getting over exposed

Today, thanks to the social media, we actually know every bit of personal information about people around us. If you make few clicks and scroll down, you will actually feel like you are reading detailed autobiographies.

People ramble all that they have in their mind out on social pages. Somewhere writing down there makes many of us very comfortable and help in easing out emotional frustration. If you observe keenly the most talked about topics on social media are love, marriage and sex.

In real life many of these people who pour their hearts out on social around these topics will never even have the guts to talk it out loud. The whole Shashi Tharoor-Sunanda Pushkar-Mehr Tarar twitter controversy has left many questions in my mind.

While the media at large is assuming that a Twitter incident could have impacted Sunanda Pushkar’s state of mind and health which give up on her, I have a question to rise- why are we becoming a social media slave?

Let’s be honest to ourselves, have we not become curious about what is happening in other’s life because we have social media profiles as records that help us give out all the information we are looking for? Are we not questioning that thing called trust today because we have seen something on each other’s social media communication?

The art of stalking has become a child’s play:
Today people in relationships need not hire a spy agent. They can save that money to get an internet connection. We all are insecure about people whom we love but there are high chances of this insecurity leading one to track down every move of their loved one.

Personal commitments are questioned because we have records: Making a commitment is tough. Making sure that we live up to those expectations is a tougher job. There are times we tend to ease our emotions with good humour just for fun on social, after all humour attracts attention there. People who look out for our moves usually don’t understand the fun behind those posts. They will usually present records in front of us while we defend ourselves.

If things get out of hand, a word of exchange on social catches attention: There are many us who vent out our emotions on social when we are in their extreme state of mind. Many of us might not intend to call for attention but many others do look out for some kind of conversation to begin with such emotions. We can speak up and get sympathy which is what many amongst us look out for when on social.

We can post anything and everything without attributing it to anyone personally: When on social we can play safe by talking all that we want without any mentions. This helps us to talk it out with no emotional baggage but people tracking us down will always get catch. Subtly these non mentions will also tend to get added to the book of evidences.

Are we ever going to cut off from the social world: If we sit down to calm this social media happenings the first thing we got to do it make everyone around us believe to just take it easy when on social. Real life cannot be dominated by emotions expressed virtually. Trust has to get some life and we need to think about it by sitting face to face. It is good to take a sabbatical from the social world.

The day we realise things are getting rocky in our lives just pause it and get real. Let’s not make our lives so serious on social media. Social media has its own good role to place in life. Let’s not mix roles.

Happy social networking!
