How You Can Pull Yellow Off

Think yellow, think sunshine and warm sunny days. One of the peppiest colours on the palette is also one of the most disliked. Despite its versatility and gorgeous undertones, girls run far away from this colour. Especially dusky girls. What’s strange is that this shade looks lovely on dusky skins, while the palest of yellows can make the skin of a very fair girl pop. It’s a shade every girl must have and we tell you ways to pull this colour off like a pro. Read on:

Accessories :
If you’re not confident about this colour on you, go for bags, shoes or belts in yellow. A bright canary yellow pair of heels will look smashing with a sundress as well as an LBD. You can offset your formal wear with a champagne gold bag at work. And opt for a neon yellow bag when out chilling with friends. If you’re still not confident about this shade, pick a hair accessory or belt in yellow. You just can’t go wrong with them! Keep in mind what you wish to play up. If it’s the belt you want the limelight on, go subtle everywhere else, including your make-up. If it’s the shoes, keep your dress or pair of jeans simple and elegant.

Mustards and golds:
These two shades can be worked by anybody, regardless of their complexion. Mustard is a very beautiful shade that you can wear to work as well a fun evening out with friends. It’s the best color to pick for a top, coat, shorts or skirt. It can hide flaws and bulges and flatter your frame. Another shade that looks wonderful on everybody is gold. It’s understated and subtle, making your look pop without looking too garish or blinding. Even a pair of pants in muted golds look fabulous when paired with a white top.

Silver jewellery:
One of the best ways to pair yellow is to match it with silver-toned jewellery. Gold on yellow looks too forced and blinding, while diamonds can steal the thunder away from your colour. If you want the yellow to do all the talking, silver earrings and stacked-up bangles will do the trick for sure. If your yellow is too bold, opt for tiny studs and statement bracelets instead of blingy stuff. And if the shade is rather pale, go for bold accessories. Simple thumbrule to follow, no?

Peek-a-boo:
If you don’t want to flaunt yellow at all, go for the classic peek-a-boo. That is, wear a yellow ganji, vest or top inside a blazer, coat to hide the glaring colour. You can match yellows best with rust, grey-silver, olive green, sky blue, mild peaches and tangerines. It works best for beginners who are just understanding and experimenting with this shade. You can even throw in a stole or scarf on a neutral shade to avoid going full yellow!

Despite these tips, do a shade test before wearing yellow. Test it against your skin before wearing it so you have a fair idea of how the hue will look on you. Don’t blindly follow the ‘in’ colour, but opt for a tone that flatters your skin and personality.
