Ridiculous Lores That Are Still Popular In India

Being born in an Indian household has its share of unfortunate episodes that people find ridiculous as they age.

The most popular among them is a set of old wives’ tales that never seems to fade away.

These lores are so ludicrous that one cannot tell whether to laugh or to cry.

These are some of the most ridiculous theories every Indian has heard at some point of time in life –

No haircuts on Saturday

If you sneeze, it means someone is thinking about you

Cutting nails/brushing hair during night time ominous

It is bad luck if the oil lamp burns out while welcoming the bride/groom into the home

Two whorls on head means you will get married twice

Pregnant women should not raise their hands above their head as it risks the umbilical cord getting rounded up on the baby’s neck

Sex and exercise should be avoided during pregnancy

Spilling glass of milk is an omen

Wife calling a husband by his name reduces ten years of his life

If you bite your tongue while talking, someone just cursed you

If you have a mole on your tongue, most things you say will come true

Having dahi shakkar before an important task is lucky

Breast-feeding mothers should eat betel leaf, as it supports digestion

Your entire day is ruined if a black cat crosses your path
