There certainly are a few Hollywood movies that desperately need sequels. They leave us asking for more when it comes to the storyline and stupendous performances.

Movie sequels are a breath of relief, when they come out to give all of us an opportunity to relive some fantastic cinema in its most lively form. For 2016, there are so many sequels underway which are yet to be announced. Everybody knows that Batman v Superman is coming out next year, of course, but not every movie that winds up getting a sequel is lucky enough to have such a huge and unavoidable marketing campaign, or such a large hold on popular culture in general. Yet they are the movies that served us some meat for the eyes, that we can relish again. Some good and some not so good movies are coming up with the sequels.

Here are 5 Hollywood movie sequels that you might be waiting for but knew nothing about:

1. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2

Release Date: March 25, 2016

If you remember this cute movie from 2002, you would remember it as a huge cultural matrimony drama where two communities were getting married to each other, along with the couple in love.  Every second person on earth watched the movie and enjoyed it too. Which meant that, against the odds, the movie earned $368 million, which was made on ridiculously tiny budget of $5 million. You don’t have to be a genius to know that’s absolutely brilliant. Now, 13 years later a filmmaker realized that the sheer amount of profit made by that first picture was downright insane, and so a sequel should exist . And it was a treat to watch anyway. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 will once again star cute actress Nia Vardalos in a movie based on a script she wrote (she also penned the first one). We definitely are waiting for this one, as we lapped the first one like crazy!

2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half Shell

Release Date: June 3, 2016 

No, no! Do not wonder already! If you loved the first, you would love the second too. Escaping the devilish version of Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles isn’t that easy you see. In less than 2 years of the release of the first, here comes the second. How fast they are? 2014’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles “reboot” did not a get an overwhelming response apart from Megan Fox’s performance and she is back to reprise her role as hottie April O’Neil in a sequel that will probably make a ton of money no matter how terrible it is. We still have hopes on the plot though.

3. Inferno

Release Date: October 14, 2016

Yes, in 2016, one of the most outstanding actors Hollywood cinema has witnessed, Tom Hanks, will come back with his role as Professor Robert Langdon for Ron Howard’s third adaptation of a Dan Brown book. First one was lukewarm offering though. Hanks is known for the movies like Cast Away, The Terminal, Philadelphia, Forrest Gump and Big, He was simply brilliant in all. Felicity Jones will be joining him as her romantic lead in this second part.  Are you waiting or not?

4. Underworld: Next Generation

Release Date: October 21, 2016

There hasn’t been an Underworld movie in three years, and then all of a sudden there’s one due in 2016. Well excited or not? Kate Beckinsale would be reliving her role as “Death Dealer and Vampire-Corvinus Strain Hybrid” Selene. Anna Foerster is on directing duties. Theo James, Tobias Menzies, Lara Pulver, and Charles Dance are also set to star. Let’s see if they impress us or depress us with what they do in the movie.

5. The Strangers 2

Release Date: December 2, 2016

The Strangers made $82 million on a budget of just $9 million, which means that Hollywood definitely sees it as a viable franchise. And that is why, The Strangers 2 is really happening and it’s set for a release in the last quarter of 2016. Away from the masked killers in the original picture, this sequel may have something different on palette. Although the plot revolves in a similar manner. The Strangers 2 will reportedly hone in on “a family with a troubled daughter attempting to bond on a family vacation together.” When said family arrive at the trailer parker home of a relative, though, they discover that he’s been murdered – horrifically killed at the hands of the titular “Strangers.”

These sequels might be hated by some and loved by some, but Hollywood does get a large chunk of its movie evenues from India, without a doubt.
