Who doesn’t know the superlative performer Boman Irani!
He is an actor par excellence and his versatility speaks for self, but he never took a thought about route to acting!
After finishing his graduation from Meethibai College and a Polytechique Diploma in hand, he started his career as a waiter in a hotel, went on to a house-keeping staff, to a bakery-man, to an ad-film performer (remember Mr. Krack of Krack-Jack Duo?) to a photographer. At the same time he also got inclined towards theatre and started playing small roles. With his debut in Josh as a cinema actor in 2000, he never looked back.
His comic timings, his craft, his effortless acting abilities have earned him a high pedestal in the industry.
Here are 7 remarkable characters he brought to life that will always be remembered and are worth a mention. Some of them went on to become iconic!
1) It all started with Professor J Asthana in “Munna Bhai MBBS”! “Main meri beti ka byaah tujh se nahi hone doonga Murli Prasad Sharma!!” What a man, what a MAN! He took Sanjay Dutt a.k.a Munna Bhai left right and centre in the movie and yet failed to fail his love! He lived the character truly.
2) Crazy forgetful Principal in “Main Hoon Na”! We started to identify Boman as an absolute stunner with his comic craft. In about 45 minutes of movie, he made Shahrukh from a Jawaan to a Lansnaayak to a Lieutenant to a Major to a General to an Admiral!! Whoa, gimme that Helluva Princi please! Ye Principal mujhe de de Thakur!!
3) Lucky Singh in “Lage Raho Munna Bhai”! Whoever thought a Parsi can never be a good Sardar can take a hike! Boman has outdone many Sardars portrayed on Indi Celluloid with this greedy property dealer sardar avatar of his, and how!
4) The LGBT Brand Ambassador in his role of “M” (Murli) in “Dostaana”! I mean look at the diverse roles he has in his kitty and how he performed in each one of them is a different story altogether! “Munda saada Gay Hai” ! Really? Did anyone doubt that he wasn’t, the way he was crooning and licking his lips seeing Macho John Ab-Raham!
5) Oh the Baddy Vardhaan in “Don-2”! Did he laugh his heart out before and after shooting those serious bad-man scenes in the movie? Coz by the graph of his career, it looks like he is made to laugh and to make people laugh! Just a thought!
6) Farhad Pastakia in “Shirin Farhad ki to Nikal Padi”! Ok this one was also dedicated to LGBT (Gay) Community! What else would you gather of a movie where a Man (Boman ) is trying to romance another Macho-man (Farha)!
7) And then comes the legendary Professor Veeru Shestrabuddhi of “3 Idiots”! He seems to have a fixation with colleges and teaching, right? With his super tactful 7 minutes powernap and Velcro adorned shirts, he became a rage among teachers. All the teachers look up to him and started wearing Velcro shirts, pants, sarees, and blouses! Well, for me, I have been trying to master that 7 minute power-nap everyday in my office! But it is my painful duty to inform you that all I get in those 7 minutes is a “Deafening Shouting from My Boss!”
